History

The origin of the squad comes as Bronkettes, which is a squad consisting of girls. In 1971, the all-adult squad debuted as Bronco Belles and became Pony Express in 1977. The group finally broke up in 1985. The Broncos brought the team back in 1993 after a seven-year absence and proud of teamwork doing both on the pitch and more importantly in society.

Cheerleaders Broncos has 26 members selected during the open auditions held every spring. Auditions focus primarily on dancing skills; However, appearance, personal achievement and community involvement are also contributing factors.

Known for their western uniforms, the Cheerleaders wear long leather caps and jackets in the fall, ski clothes for cooler games and more traditional cheerleader leather skirts and vests in the summer months. Three uniform changes provide group flexibility with rapidly changing Colorado weather.

The Cheerleaders of the Denver Broncos host a Junior program known as Junior Broncos Cheerleaders (JDBC) Junior which gives young women aged six to fourteen opportunities to perform with cheerleaders during pregame and halftime shows on game day.

Since 2008, the Dare to Cheer program, in collaboration with the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, has reached out to young women with disabilities to share the Broncos football joy with them. The Dare to Cheer program is integrated into the JDBC program from 2013, giving these women an additional opportunity to perform with the Denver Broncos Cheersleaders on match day.

While the JDBC and Dare to Cheer programs do not require testing and are tailored for young women of all skill levels, the Denver Broncos All Stars is a competitive dance team devoted to young girls who want to bring their performance abilities to the next level. In addition to regular training with current instructors/Denver Broncos Cheerleaders alumni, the All Star program also focuses on charity, teambuilding and achievement work. From 2003 to 2015, members of the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders have visited military bases in Egypt, Cuba, Iraq, Afghanistan, Italy, Guam, Hawaii, Kwajalein, Japan and Australia performing their 90-minute show to boost morale troops and thank them for service they are to our country. In 2015, the Denver Broncos Cheersleaders were elected to represent the United States in the Chinese New Year's Eve Festival Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong.
