Plot

Act Me

It opens with Wildcats in Ms Darbus room on a summer vacation night. Everyone wants the last school bell, except Ms. Darbus who is still teaching. Jason decides to ask Ms. Darbus about her favorite summer memories, which disgusts the rest of the class. In the middle of his speech, the final bell rang and school went awry ( Countdown/What Time Is It? ).

Things have been sailing smoothly for Troy and Gabriella since their star turn in Juliet and Romeo, but Sharpay promises to win over Troy's heart this summer - in whatever way it takes ( Scene 1 Pt 1 ).

With all the Wildcats desperate for cash, Troy gets a surprise phone call that works have arrived! ( What time (Reprise) )

At the Lava Springs Country Club, owned by the Evans family, Sharpay rejoices in her summer kingdom, surrounded by club staff and she praises "Sharpettes" ( Fabulous ).

The celebration was cut short when not only Troy, but the whole Wildcats gang, appeared to be on duty! Mr. Fulton, the club manager, gave them a job, starting with cleaning the kitchen ( Work This Out ).

After Mr. Wildcats impressed Mr. Fulton with their cleaning ability, Troy and Gabriella go to the golf course to enjoy a picnic lunch. In the dining room, Kelsi played the song she wrote for Troy and Gabriella. Among Wildcats now, Troy is swept away by the excitement of the song and agrees to sing it with them for the employee's number on the talent show ( You Are the Music in Me ).

Fulton informs Troy that he has been promoted to a pro golf assistant, who comes with extreme membership and change status ( Fabulous - Troy's Transformation )

Despite his previous commitment to Gabriella, Troy allows him to speak in singing with Sharpay on the Talent Show. In the middle of his new job and his practice with college basketball teams, Troy starts to ignore his friends. During the rehearsals for the talent show numbers Ryan and Sharpay ( Humuhumunukunukuapua'a ),

Sharpay replaces Ryan with Troy. Emotions burst, friendships crumbled, numbers pulled from talent show, and whole company got angry with Troy ( Act One Finale ).

Act II

During his second week at Lava Springs, Troy coached the modified Kelsi song with Sharpay and Sharpettes ( You Are the Music in Me - Rock Version).

At a staff baseball game, the Wildcats lost their team leader, but Gabriella recruited a new 9-man Ryan. Chad is dubiously challenging "dancer boy" Ryan, who not only makes Chad dance, but helps Wildcats win the game ( I Do not Dance ).

Now officially part of the team, Ryan teaches new gang numbers for talent show with Chad and Taylor ( Everyday - Exercise ).

Sharpay, sensed his Dazzle Star Award was under siege, directing Fulton to attract employees from talent shows. This is the last straw for Gabriella, who exposes Sharpay, quits his job, and breaks up with Troy ( Gotta Go My Own Way ).

Soon, Troy's confused and heartbroken look back at her decision while the voice of her friends rang in her head ( Bet on It ).
