Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders is the official shout squad of the Kansas City Chief. The group performed various dance moves at the Head's home at Arrowhead Stadium. The squad was originally the first co-ed squad set up in 1971, and eventually dropped the male cheerleaders, and renamed the squad as Chiefettes. In 1986, the squad changed to its current name, and the male cheerleader returned. In 1997, the squad became all women. Group annual trials took place in April. Non-KCCC members can still join by participating in "Spirit Day", where a group of 7-12 class cheerleaders perform with the squad in the first round. The group also made various appearances at military bases, trade shows, commercials, conventions, fairs, talk shows, grand opening, signature sessions, shooting, golf tournaments, charity events and auctions. The squad also has a "Junior Cheerleaders" program. However, the program is separated into 4 age divisions: Angel Chiefs for 3-5; Head of Junior High School for 6-12; Satellite Program for 6-17; as well as Head of Youth for ages 13-17. The squad also featured with Chiefs mascot KC Wolf, who also made an appearance. Similar to the drum line from the Chicago Bears, the Chiefs also have "Rumble", a drum line consisting of male and female musicians who pump the crowd in every home game, and at community events with cheerleaders and KC Wolf. A Chief Cheerleader, Susie, rides a horse named "Warpaint" out of the tunnel before every home game. This was done until 1989, in which he retired. However, in 2009, for the 50th Birthday Head (and the American Football League), Warpaint was brought back. Aside from the squad, the Chiefs also have "Red and Gold Girls", who perform cheerleading stunts.
