Life and career
1979-1996: Early life and early career
Natina Tiawana Reed was born on October 28, 1979, in Queens, New York City. He grew up in Atlanta by his mother Tamara Goodridge, father, and stepfather Mark Goodridge of Covington, Georgia. His family also included two sisters, a brother, and seven half-brothers. She is a cousin of singer Farrah Franklin. In one interview, Reed said he wanted to become Miss America, vet or movie star. At the age of eight, he had modeled the Macy and Bloomingdale ad campaigns and acted in hot dog ads. As a child, Reed often beat the beatbox and made a knock by hitting the wall while writing a song. He also played drums in his father's church and appeared in drama ministry. She sings in church choirs and writes poems and jingles, one of which Sprite buys. At the age of 13 or 14, he submitted a song for a competition and won. He attended Cedar Grove High School and aspires to be a entertainment lawyer.
Rapper Lisa Lopes found Reed after listening to his music, and asked him to write for the TLC girl group Lopes. Describing his working relationship with Lopes, Reed said: "He built my confidence and really inspired me just by trusting me and sometimes that's all you need to give someone." Reed identified himself as the "group official author", and music executive Tommy Mottola encouraged him to work more with them. His brother Ronald acted as his manager.
1997-1999: Blaque
Reed performed in the Blaque girl group, an acronym for Believe, Life, Achieving, Quest, Unity and Everything, with singers Shamari Fears and Brandi Williams. Reed and Fears are school friends, and work together on other music projects including city-state groups. They have met Williams during the audition for the Lopes production company, Left Eye Productions. Reed was 19 when Left Eye Productions signed a trio. Lopes guides and manages trios and media that identify Reed as the protagonist Lopes. Reed explains the sound and style of Blaque: "The vibrations we want to convey that we are universal We are not just urban and R & B." According to Billboard Blaque music contains R & amp; B, pop music, and rap music. Jean-Claude Olivier of the Trackmasters says that Blaque is more pop compared to TLC. Blaque first appeared as a group during a cameo appearance in a music video for the remix of Lil 'Kim's 1997 "Not Tonight" and Jermaine Dupri 1998 "Someday at Christmas". In 1999, they performed as opening act for NSYNC's NSYNC in Concert and TLC FanMail Tour.
The group recorded their debut album with Dallas producer Austin in studio Miami. They also worked on a note at Lenny Kravitz's house for two weeks. The trio collaborated with rapper Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah during the recording sessions. Reed wrote credits on seven of 14 album tracks; "I Do" was written entirely by Reed. He wrote the majority of the songs for Blaque. His impressions are published through Dotted Line (Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI)). A writer for Los Angeles Sentinel described Reed as "an arrogant MC who gave hits like their '808' punch". In his 2008 book Pop Princess, author Beth Peters writes that Reed's reputation is "very naughty" and "wild, fiery, and full of spirit".
Blaque was released June 1, 1999, under the Trackmasters track label. Blaque peaked at number 53 on Billboard 200; on April 10, 2000, the album got platinum and has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide. It was promoted through three singles: "808", "Bring It All to Me", and "I Do". The first two songs were charted at number eight and five on Billboard Hot 100. On June 2, 1999, "808" was certified gold for selling over 500,000 copies worldwide. When Reed was 14 years old, he wrote "I Do" after seeing singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette on MTV. He said: "I want to write a song that can make an artist like him have acceptance to be played at [R & amp; B] station." A writer for BET noted the group's music video has a "futuristic feel", and Reed says: "We went straight out of 2080."
2000-2002: Bring It On and continue music career
Reed plays the cheerleader Jenelope in the 2000 teen comedy Bring It On . He describes the characters as "people who have attitude" and "ghetto and cute at the same time". Bring It On is Reed's first acting role. He appeared with Williams and Fears, who played LaFred and Shamari, friends to lead the character of Isis (played by Gabrielle Union). Reed, Williams and Fears often look to the camera when delivering their sentences, due to lack of acting experience. Blaque donated two songs to the movie's soundtrack: "As If" and a remix of "Bring It All to Me" featuring verses from rapper 50 Cent. On the 15th anniversary of his release, Union says that people mistakenly associate Reed's lines ("Let's beat this Buffys" and "you have been touched by the angel, girl") with his character.
Reed appeared as himself in a 2001 episode of the VIP-drama comedy television series. That same year, he was shown on the hook for him then-fiancÃÆ' © e Kurupt "It's Over" from his third studio album < i> Space Boogie: Smoke Oddessey , and appeared in her seductive music video. Jazmin Perez from Vibe put it as one of the "songs to watch", even though a HipHopDX writer
On 29 January 2002, Blaque's second album Blaque Out was released only in Japan. It was made temporarily available for digital download in 2007 in the United States and reissued in 2011. Discussing his release, Reed said that the death of a group member's mother and "technical difficulties" led to a delay. "Can not Get It Back" (2001) is the lead single from the album, and promoted with music videos. The song is mapped at number 91 on the Hot R & amp Song; B/Hip-Hop. Reed feels that Blaque Out is the group's best album. He is credited as a songwriter on it. In a review on Blaque Out, Demetria Lucas of Vibe criticized Reed's poetry and vocals for being too similar to Lopes and writing "monotonous". Blaque made a cameo appearance in the music video for Jermaine Dupri's single "Welcome to Atlanta" (2002). That same year, Reed's song "Rock Climber" was featured on the compilation album Dragonfly Presents a Better Life through Chemistry.
2003-2012: Career setbacks and hiatus
In 2003, Blaque recorded a third album Torch with Elektra, which was never released. The group teamed up with Missy Elliot on five album tracks. Scheduled for release in August 2003, promoted with the single "Ugly" featuring the verses by Elliot. Reed is unhappy with Torch's Torch music direction and his lack of creative control. According to Reed, Blaque retained the rights to the album, and they collectively refused to release it. He explains: "If it is not necessary to give them a note that we do not even care, why give it to them?" Though not released, Ernest Hardy of Vibe somehow acquired a copy of Torch and in a review writing that rap Reed was "filled with hiccup effect, yeah-yeahs , and the nasal phrase "," lifted "from Lopes, describes the album as" passable, if very derivative ".
In 2004, Blaque contributed the single "I'm Good" to the soundtrack album for the 2003 dance movie Honey, and made a cameo appearance as themselves. "I'm Good" is Blaque's highest charting single in the UK, peaking at number 17 on the UK Singles Chart. The song also reached number 95 on the Hot R & amp; B/Hip-Hop Songs. Blaque split in 2004, and Fears and Williams pursue careers as solo artists. Before the group broke up, singer Erica Pullins was temporarily hired as Reed's successor. The Blaque compilation album by Popular Demand was released on February 27, 2007.
Reed said that he took hiatus from his musical career "to focus on other aspirations that he ha [d] including acting". According to another report, he left Blaque to join Christian service. In 2008, she appeared as herself in the television movie Til 6 in the Morning by Platinum Souls. Bossip online magazine reported that Reed was arrested on April 13, 2010, in Gwinnett County on charges of prostitution, disorderly conduct, and possession of cocaine; this news is taken by another outlet. Reed's management denied the arrest report, saying that the alleged mugshots had been photographed by someone who previously hacked and deleted Reed's Twitter account. On June 29, 2011, he was arrested on charges of driving under the influence (DUI), driving recklessly, and driving without a license, and was jailed for two days. Reed's license has been revoked after DUI's previous arrest. During their hiatus, Blaque tried a reunion, and worked on a project known as Private Performance . This album is abandoned because members have different priorities.
In a 2012 interview, Reed said he was waiting to pursue a solo career to avoid comparisons with other artists, particularly rapper Nicki Minaj. Prior to his death, he worked on solo albums, books, and scripts and hired an acting agency as a means of "revamping his career". Reed has reunited earlier with members of the Blaque group for performances at the Left Eye festival. In the fall of 2012, Blaque began working on an album and reality television show, but more information about the project was not released after Reed's death.

Personal life
During the "early 2000s", Reed was engaged to Kurupt even though the couple never married. They had planned to get married in the spring of 2001, and scheduled it back in 2002 or 2003 because of conflicts with their work schedules. Rapper Foxy Brown, a former fiancé of Kurupt, refutes Reed on the track "730" from his 2001 album Broken Silence in the lyrics: "Some hos is always yappin" - especially pop-star comedians with soft images " and "So what I'm not with/Bitch he's forbidden". Reed replies that Brown "needs to move and forget about it" and suggests that they focus on their own careers. Reed told MTV News:
You can not pursue something that does not pursue you back [...] I do not spend much time thinking about what people think about me. It's small - it's like someone who never grows in this game. You watch Biggie and all the nonsense that [he] and Pac are natural, and people still do not understand the message. They still want to start a war and create a fire.
Reed was pregnant with a Kurupt child during recording Blaque Out ; He said that the limited release of the album was the result of his pregnancy and the uncertainty of the label over the group's future. In 2002, she gave birth to their son, Tren Brown. After Reed's pregnancy, the couple split up. Reed's father said that being a mother is "one of his most valuable roles". After Lopes's death in a car accident in La Ceiba, Honduras, in 2002, Reed was interviewed for the BET Tonight episode of his life. Reed said he lived with Lopes three months before the birth of his son and was treated during his pregnancy. Trend, who had lived with Kurupt for four years before Reed's death, remained with his father. Reed's father says he plans to raise money to help Trend.
Death
On 26 October 2012, the red Honda Accord crashed into Reed on Lawrenceville Highway near Hamilton Road in northern Lilburn, Georgia. The driver and passenger tried CPR, but Reed was declared dead at Gwinnett Medical Center at 10:49 pm. (EDT). Gwinnett County police said the driver "was determined to be innocent and there were no pending charges", and they started an accident investigation to determine why Reed was on the road. Reed's death was first reported by TMZ the next day, and the media misreported that Reed had died in a hit-and-run. Obituaries, written by the Reed family, were published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on October 30. At the time of his death, Reed stayed at StudioPlus Atlanta Peachtree Corners Extended Stay Hotels in Norcross, Georgia.
On November 3, a public funeral, hosted by Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home, was held at the Church of Abundant Living in Lithonia, Georgia. Reed is buried at the North Atlanta Memorial Park and Chapel Mausoleum in Doraville, Georgia. Before the service, Reed's parents held a press conference in Atlanta to criticize police investigations. According to their lawyers, police have ignored their request for information about "the time of the incident, the exact location, information about the driver and even Reed's personal belongings". Police released the report an hour after the scheduled conference, replying that "they are not holding back any information". A year after Reed's death, his sister Niesha Stevens died of an unknown cause.
