Character summary

At first glance, Noah Bennet appears to be an ordinary businessman who works at Primatech Paper Company and lives in Odessa, Texas, with his wife and two children. However, he and his colleagues have actually traveled the world for several years investigating the phenomenon of the superhuman and tracing people with this "gift". Bennet claims that he helped them in learning to use their power, though the flashbacks between him and Thompson revealed that he knew his work was morally questionable and that it would often result in undesirable consequences; in one episode, he clearly stated that he was comfortable with being a moral gray. Though he is a "Human Company", he is very concerned with his family and will do anything to protect them, especially his adoptive daughter, Claire, and put their safety above all else. It is also known as the "Human Eyewear".

Bennet has a number of colleagues, especially the mysterious man best known as "The Haitian," who has the power to prevent other heroes from using their powers before him, as well as to erase certain memories from people's minds. Another famous Bennett's friend is Eden McCain, a woman with a mind control power that kills herself to keep Sylar from getting her ability; Claude Rains, Bennet's first partner who has the power to change invisibly; and a romantic couple consisting of Hank, a doctor with unknown and other important abilities, Lisa, who also possesses unknown abilities. Rain is the first to question Bennet's actions and the Company's actions. Bennet was assigned to execute Rains for his rebellion on moral grounds, but Rains escaped by completely disappearing into thin air.

Bennett's true agendas and affiliations are entirely mysterious. In response to Matt Parkman's question about whether he works for the FBI or the CIA, Bennet says he does not work for "any organization that has initials." Furthermore, he has worked for and against the Company and for and against Mr. Linderman. These factors obscure his true loyalty. His clear loyalty, however, was his daughter, Claire; his son, Lyle; and his wife, Sandra. Bennet loves his daughter very much, but also protects her. Sometimes this causes him to use his authority and associates in a bad way. Past, present and future events all show that Bennett has lied about Claire's biological origins several times.

According to his driver's license, his previous address is 9 Juniper Lane, Odessa, Texas. Noah Bennet speaks Japanese and apparently also speaks at least some Ukrainians. Although he seems to have no strength whatsoever, his vast experience in dealing with creatures with superhuman strength allows him to be able to handle them effectively. In addition, he performed greatness in hand-to-hand combat and firing skills.

Beginning

In the episode "The Wall", Samuel uses Damien's ability to reveal Noah's life before joining the Company for Claire. In 1985, Noah lived in Los Angeles with his first wife Kate as a used car salesman. Immediately upon learning of Kate's pregnancy, both were attacked by a telekinetika named Richard in their home that resulted in Kate's death. Before wanting to find his killer, Noah developed signs of psychotic depression and paranoia before he spent the next year charting and tracking people with abilities. After meeting one of the people he tracked, Noah demanded that he say where he could find Richard, but was attacked and forced to kill him in self-defense. Soon after, Noah was approached by Eric Thompson Sr. with an offer to join Primatech and help in finding Richard. After two years and several deaths in his case Noah was encouraged by Thompson to marry so he calmed down so there were fewer incidents, advised Noah to see the waiter working in the restaurant, which turned out to be Sandra. Soon after, the two meet and get married; they spent their honeymoon in West Berlin, Germany where Noah acted as an informant for Thompson's assignment ( From File Primatech, Part 5: 1988 ).

In the "Human Company", a flashback episode, it was revealed that former Noah Bennet's partner last year was Claude, with whom he saved Claire from the fire of her biological mother caused by pyrokinesis. However, because Claude hid "one of them", Bennet was forced to kill him. However, Claude then turns to life - he uses his power to become invisible when Bennet shoots him, disappears from sight. In the "Human Company", an episode that occurred more than 16 years before "Genesis", Kaito Nakamura arranged for Noah to adopt Claire as a duty and Bennet then allowed them to plant a catalyst from a genetic modification formula - a formula that can give superpowers to anyone who was injected into Claire's body. In the Six Months, he changed the criminals and mind controls that Eden McCain sought to be one of his operatives. At about the same time, he was contacted by Chandra Suresh, who had found a picture of Claire on her high school website after identifying her as a person of potential strength. After Chandra left, Bennet ordered Eden McCain to become Chandra Suresh's neighbor and to remove Claire's name from Chandra's super-powerful list.

Character history

Genesis

Noah Bennet first appeared in "Genesis", the first episode. She was found in Chandra Suresh's apartment in Madras, India. Chandra's son Mohinder came into the apartment, but left immediately after realizing Bennett was there. Bennet seemed to notice Mohinder, and then followed him to New York. There, Bennet was one of Mohinder's afternoon passengers during his work as a taxi driver. Bennett started happily referring to his journey, stating that he would love to see his family again. The conversation changed when he mentioned personal facts about Mohinder, which ultimately resulted in Mohinder escaping from his own taxi. Finally, Bennet returns to Odessa and greets his family. The next morning at "Do not Look Back", Claire expressed her desire to meet her biological parents. Bennet was reluctant, but did not say "no." After Claire gets home from school, Bennet says she will start contacting the adoption agency and looking for her biological parents. After Claire was happy to leave the room, Bennet was seen watching Claire's video footage showing her healing abilities.

In "Collision", Bennet was first seen standing on Matt Parkman, who was tied to a gurney. Bennet calmly chatted with Matt, advising him to relax. Bennet also checked the machine readings used to measure when Parkman tried to read Bennet's mind. Bennett explained that the Haitians were blocking Matt's power. Nevertheless, Matt was able to draw the name "Claire" from Bennet's mind. Bennet is impressed by Matt's increasing ability, and then tells the Haitian people to "get away" with Matt, who last sounds shouting. That morning, returning to Bennet's house, Bennet discovers that the bewildered Claire has just returned home. Bennet assumes from Claire's bare feet covered in mud, that he's been out all night. Bennet had to start working, but declared that they would talk later. He was then seen watching Nathan Petrelli, who had just stood one night with Niki/Jessica Sanders. Bennett told Haiti to kidnap "only one" (Nathan).

In the next episode, "Hiros", Bennet and Haiti attempt to force Nathan into the car, but he runs away by flying away. Bennet was later seen in a Texas hospital visiting Claire. Claire explains that Brody was a rapist and tried to force herself on her. After talking to one of his victims, Claire was motivated to do something. He just wants to "frighten" Brody, but when he sits in the passenger seat and says he will not stop raping the girls, he ends up crashing his car deliberately. Claire begs her father not to tell anyone, and Bennett just says she'll take care of it. Bennet then appears in Brody's room, followed by the Haitians. He said that he was going through a 'confusing time', saying that he knew his strength. He told the boy that he was given a chance to start life and Bennett then told the Haitians to "empty him" and "take everything" (erase all Brody's memories, including his own).

Finally, in the "Better Section", Bennet has arranged a meeting between Claire and her two colleagues, Hank and Lisa. Bennet presents both as Claire's real parents. Cautiously watching both with his wife Sandra, Bennet received a call from Eden McCain, his spies in New York. Eden conveys information about Mohinder, Isaac Mendez ("precog") and the message "save the cheerleader, save the world." Bennet is distracted by the last part, but regains his composure. Bennett tells Eden to prevent Mohinder from leaving New York and "brings in precog." After Hank and Lisa left Bennet's house, Noah Bennet followed the two outside and thanked them for their service. At this point, his wife, Sandra, lets slip into Claire that they have a problem finding her parents in the past and that she's surprised that Noah Bennet has managed to do it now.

Bennett asks Isaac, whom Eden is "persuaded" to go with him, to help him prevent Claire being killed by Sylar on her homecoming the next night. Bennett has collected three previous paintings made by Isaac describing a frightened Claire, running to a bench in a soccer stadium, and lying dead on the ground with the top of his skull removed. When Isaac could not paint without using heroin and refused to take medicine, Bennet ordered Eden to use his power to make Isaac sure he wanted to use the medicine.

Bennet gets frustrated after Isaac can not paint something that makes sense to him. When Eden protested his actions, Bennet showed a series of photographs depicting Sylar's dead victims - all with their brains removed from their heads - and saying he was determined to save his daughter from such fate. He orders Eden to go to a homecoming game and search for Sylar and Claire's ground to prevent him from getting killed. Bennet finds later, however, that Claire sneaks out and anxiously runs off to school to find her. When he arrived, he was late to stop Sylar from attacking the cheerleader in the photo. Bennet soon discovered that the victim was not Claire; on the contrary, it was Jackie Wilcox, one of Claire's cheerleaders. Relatively relieved Bennet immediately reunited with his daughter and forced them home while the police handled things. Claire says that she has something to tell her father about her extraordinary survival.

In the episode "Fallout", Claire's dad reveals that she knows about her strength long before she realizes them. She admits doing things that she is not proud of keeping her safe, and tells Claire that Sylar has been taken care of, but she has to keep silent about her powers because she is in danger from others like her. Bennet then meets with Sylar, who is confined in a prison cell, and tells him that the cell is making his strength suppressed. Sylar mocks Bennett telling him that Bennet is just like him. In the next confrontation, Bennet countered the ridicule to Sylar who told him how they plan to study it to determine what made him "tick." Sylar boasts that he will run away and kill Claire, taking her healing abilities. Eden suggests using her powers to persuade Sylar to commit suicide, but Bennet refuses (albeit tempted for a moment), as he receives orders from someone higher. Bennett then took Claire to the police station, where she was interviewed about Jackie's murder. Parkman's officers can not read Claire's mind or her father, because the Haitians are hiding behind the nearest corner. After that, Bennet ordered the Haitians to erase the memory of his son and Claire's friend, Zach. When Claire finds out that they both have lost all her memory of her strength, she makes her father panic. It was left open if it was only then that he ordered the Haitians to erase Claire's memories or if he had done so.

In "Godsend", Bennet believes Claire's memory has been removed. Claire acted like that too. However, Bennet and Claire slowly drift away. At Primatech Paper, the FBI investigates the building as well as Bennet and his colleagues. Though they found nothing, Parkman's officers knew Bennett had done something and had realized that Bennett had kidnapped him. Bennet was not affected, however, and only told Matt "good luck" in terms of his revenge.

Subsequently, Bennet appeared in Mohinder Suresh's apartment in New York. Mohinder is defensive, considering Bennet's actions in the past. However, Bennet means he is not dangerous, and even mentions Eden. Soon, he made a proposition. Bennett tells Mohinder that they can make a difference, and asks Mohinder to join him. Mohinder said he was not interested, but Bennet left the card.

Bennet returns to the Sylar storage area in "The Fix". There, he finds Hank telling him that Sylar's vital signs are very disorganized and he may be dying. Bennet tells Hank to keep him alive, referring orders from his superiors to that effect. Furthermore, he states that Sylar will "die on the term [Bennet]," not his. At home, Bennet finds Claire and Zach are "working on a school project" together, according to Claire. Claire also acts as if she'd rather not spend time with Zach. Bennet, however, told him that he had been friends and encouraged him to see if they might not find common ground. After Zach and he went upstairs, Bennet got a call from Hank. Hank states that Sylar has died, which Bennet replied was "less than ideal." Bennet then informs Hank to prepare Sylar "for delivery." Back at Sylar's cell, Bennet found Hank's dead body, where Sylar should be. Bennet then turns around to find Sylar calmly standing in front of him. Sylar asks about Claire, then declares her intention to kill her. After telekinetik throw Bennet to the wall and play with the lights, Sylar leaves Bennet trapped in the cell. Later, at Bennet's house, he and Haiti narrowly save Sandra from Sylar. Although Sylar escapes, Bennet believes he will catch the killer. After Haiti wipes out Sandra's memories again, Bennet is called by Isaac Mendez. Mendez was downgraded to work with Bennet, as he delivered information about Peter Petrelli.

In the "Unexpected", Bennet and Haiti managed to track down Peter and Claude. They fired Tasers at Claude, but Peter unexpectedly used his power to stop the electrodes and fly away from them. Bennet was later summoned by Claire, who told him that Sandra had collapsed for an unknown reason. Bennet returns home, and is confronted by Claire at the hospital, where she reveals that she remembers everything that should have been removed by Haiti. Afterward, the Bennet family returned home, where they were confronted by Ted Sprague and Matt Parkman.

The "Human Company" episode begins with the hostage of the Bennet family by Sprague and Parkman, who are looking for answers. Noah Bennet had a disclosure of his company during this situation, showing that he originally worked for "Company" under the supervision of a man named Thompson, and partnered with Claude. He was eventually ordered to kill Claude, because Claude seemed to hide "one of them" from The Company. During a confrontation with Sprague, Thompson came through the back door and shot Ted, who went into an uncontrolled radioactive state. Noah Bennet and Matt escape from the house, while Claire soothes Sprague. After this, Matt and Ted were taken to the paper factory. Thompson asked Bennett when Claire had to show up at the factory. It was then that Bennet realized that he was too attached to Claire. The graphic novel "Family Man" reveals that, at this point, Noah Bennet decides that he should do what he can to save Claire and "knock the people [she] work for." Upon realizing that he was followed by someone from the Company, Noah Bennet drove to cybercafà ©  © and sent a message to Hana asking for help, which he agreed to do. The episode ends with Noah Bennet taking Claire to the same bridge where she shot Claude years ago. The Haitians showed up, and Bennet instructed the Haitians to shoot him in the stomach, then "Deeply" and remove anything from his memory that could bring "them" to Claire. The Haitians followed orders, then took Claire away to protect her, as instructed.

In "Parasite", Bennet is questioned by Thompson; he claims that the last thing he remembers was driving Sandra's car from the hospital. Then, before Noah Bennet will go on business, Sandra tells him that he's just pretending his mind was removed, as he did; and that he had told him everything about what he actually did, who he worked for, and what happened to Claire. She gives him a note that he's gone for himself, warning him not to look for Claire because he's with his friends. Later, Bennet and Candice went to New York to "cleanse" Isaac's chaos. Upon returning home, Bennet informs Sandra that they both should pretend that they do not know what has happened, and that Primatech must be stopped in order to ensure Claire's safety. "Sandra" then changed back to Candice, and other members of the Company, including Thompson, entered the room behind her.

In "0.07%", Bennet is now in Primatech custody, in solitary confinement. His desire to protect Claire was challenged by Candice, who changed Claire's form; Bennet recognizes the trick immediately and tells him and Thompson that he does not know where Claire is and will never hand it to them. Thompson threatens to kill Bennet, but Bennet notes that if they really want him dead, they'll kill him now. Thompson told Bennet that he was just waiting for orders to do so.

Realizing that the only hope to stop Thompson and his superiors was to flee Primatech, Bennet telepathically instructed Matt Parkman, who was also arrested, about how to get out of his cell. Matt was then told to take Sprague from his cell so that Sprague could produce an EMP to turn off the power at Primatech, which would then allow them to destroy Bennet from his cell. Matt was reluctant to follow the plan, and Sprague did not trust Bennet, but eventually the three of them worked together to escape.

During breakfast at the Burnt Toast Diner, Bennet reveals that the only way to stop Thompson is to go to New York City to destroy a tracking device that tracks heroes with a neck tattoo, and he generates a bus ticket to take them there. When he asked if Mr. Linderman was in New York, Bennet seemed surprised by Matt's knowledge of the name. Matt guessed rightly that Bennet was "middle management" and was somewhat skeptical that Bennet did not seem to know who had signed his payment checks for years. Bennett tells Matt to forget Linderman and that they are more important to New York and destroy his tracker. Sprague gave a decisive vote to go to New York City, and Matt reluctantly agreed to join them at their destination.

After escaping from Primatech Paper with Sprague and Parkman, the three of them headed for New York to destroy the tracking system and the company. In "The Hard Part", Bennet, Parkman, and Sprague stole the car and headed for New York. Bennet revealed that the Company has a new tracking system called the Walker system. He reveals that this system does not require radio isotopes or trackers to find you; just know where you are. Unbeknownst to Bennet, Walker's tracker system was later revealed to be Molly Walker, who has the ability to mentally find anyone in the world, just by thinking about it.

The three arrive at Kirby Plaza, where Micah Sanders and Molly Walker are located. Claire sees the trio coming, and the father and daughter reunite. Peter then saw his hand start to glow. Bennet noticed that Peter absorbed Ted's strength, and Peter and Claire looked at each other with concern.

After Peter controlled himself, the group split into two, with Peter, Claire, and Sprague going to a remote town in Nebraska, and Parkman and Bennet continued their mission to destroy the tracking system. Bennet knows where to go, but he needs Parkman's power to let them access. Matt confronted a security guard and assured him that they knew each other and had spoken outside the work the night before. After revealing the embarrassing secrets of the guards, the man let them in without hesitation.

While waiting for the lift, they meet Jessica and D.L., with Jessica surprised to see Matt still alive. The four ride in the lift together, with Bennet telling them where to find Linderman. Bennet and Parkman then dropped off on the floor where the tracking system was, only to find Thompson waiting for them. Parkman saved Bennet from the shot, only to make Bennet leave him without defensive against Thompson. Thompson then appears behind Parkman, puts a gun on his head, and asks him, "What am I thinking now, Parkman?" Bennet came from the side and said, "Your last thought." killing Thompson with two blank shots to his head.

The two then proceed to find a tracking system, where both are surprised to find it is a young girl - though only Matt is really surprised: Bennet claims he knows it is someone, just not a little girl - who had previously been rescued by Matt from Sylar , and who think of Matt as "my hero." Matt protests to kill him, but Bennet says it should be done to save the others. The two continued to argue until Matt was suddenly knocked out by Mohinder from behind. The episode ends with Mohinder pointing the gun at Bennet while the latter shows his weapon at Molly, both threatening to shoot.

Parkman woke up, ending the deadlock. Bennet asks Molly to search for Sylar, which she does - she's nearby.

He later finds Peter after he collapsed from almost exploding, thanked him for saving Claire and agreed to kill her if that happened. He also revealed his first name, telling Peter to "Call me Noah."

In the culmination of "How to Stop Explosive People," Peter, Noah, and Matt face Sylar in the square. Bennet was immediately thrown to the wall, making him unable to stop Peter if he exploded.

Generation

Four months after the incident in New York, the Bennets family went into hiding, moved to Costa Verde, California, and took the last name "Butler." Noah took a subordinate's job at a copy shop called Copy Kingdom, and made it very clear that he would not stand for the bullying management style of his younger superior. Despite hiding, he is still working to lower the "Company" with the help of Mohinder Suresh.

In "Lizard" Noah tells his wife about a series of eight paintings performed by the late Isaac Mendez, each depicting the death of one person. He has the first one, who predicts the death of Kaito Nakamura, and intends to find the other seven. At the end of the episode, Noah reunited with the Haitians; the accompanying graphic novel shows that Mohinder directs the Haitian people to Bennet.

In "Kindred", Mohinder discovers the last of the eight paintings, one describing the death of Noah. He was lying on the ground with a bullet hole through the left lens of his glasses. A girl who resembles Claire is in the background, apparently held by someone.

In "Fight or Flight", Noah and Haiti travel to Odessa, Ukraine, to find the remaining paintings. While there, he received a call from Mohinder explaining that Molly Walker had fallen into a catatonic state and he wanted to take her to the Company for observation. Noah can not talk to him, though he warns that they will have Mohinder once he releases what he cares about.

In "The Line", Noah tracks his old mentor, Ivan. He told the Haitians to wipe away valuable memories (wedding day, children born, etc.) from old men one by one until Ivan gave up and revealed where the paintings were. Knowing that his interrogation methods, as well as trying to use Haitians to cover his tracks, would warn the Company, he instead chose to kill his mentor, making the affair seem to be a simple home invasion.

In "Out of Time", Noah and Suresh try to understand Noah's paintings and Haitians have just been discovered. What is meant is Suresh's painting that holds a rifle that issues the Company's newly fired issue. Noah took pictures of the paintings in an attempt to send him to Suresh, but Suresh refused to declare his life might be in danger. After that, Noah and Haiti burned the entire collection and Noah returned home. The West had stopped unannounced that morning and made breakfast for Claire. When Noah entered the house, the West saw Noah and remembered who he was. The West ran out and suddenly flew without being seen by Noah. After leaving the newspaper detailing the incident with a drunken cheerleader, it ended in the hands of Noah, who saw it as a threat to the family. She faces Claire and tells her she puts their family life in jeopardy. Next, he tells her and the family to pack their things, and they will leave soon. Claire then summoned her father out, stating that she was dishonest about the "journey" she took for "management training". Claire defiantly told her father that she did not move elsewhere and came out of the room.

In "Cautionary Tales", Bob, Elle, and Mohinder arrive in Costa Verde to take Claire. Although they finally succeeded, Noah managed to catch Elle. Noah bridges trade with Bob, gets his daughter back in exchange for Bob. When Elle breaks free and tries to kill the West and Claire, Noah shoots him in the arm. He then prepares to execute Bob, arguing that Claire will never be free as long as the Company is alive. But Mohinder shot Noah, imitated Isaac's painting, and Noah was hit in the left eye and died. While his family believed he was dead, the episode ended with Noah at the Company's facility, tied to a gurney and given Claire's blood transfusion; His broken eyes then regenerate and he returns to life.

In "Truth & Consequences", Mohinder tells him that he's revived with Claire's blood and Claire is home, thinking he's dead. During the episode, with Noah still in the Company's hands, Bob visits the Bennets' family home with an urn that tells them it contains Noah's ashes.

In "Helpless", Noah returned to his family, clearly surprising them all because he was supposedly dead. He told them that he was brought back using Claire's blood, and that he made a deal with the Company that would allow his family to lead a normal life on one condition; he must remain with the Company. Noah then left his family.

Criminals

In "The Butterfly Effect", Noah was imprisoned by the Company. Elle frees her from her cell so she can help in understanding Sylar during the attack on Level 5 facilities. After Elle accidentally drops Sylar and causes damage to a complex security system, Noah --- fearing the worst after seeing Sylar demonstrates Claire's ability --- placing Sylar inside the cell and making his own escape. Later, when Noah visits the house and sees Claire alive but traumatized, she explains that she can not stay because she has to retake the superhuman who fled during the Sylar attack, stating "They are criminals, Claire, and I are one the only person on the planet who knows how to stop it, " and even shows some info about his escape. Before leaving, Noah told him that he asked Claire's real mother, the pioneering Meredith Gordon, to help protect the family.

Returning to the Company to bring the refugees, Noah, on orders from the new CEO Angela Petrelli, partnered with Sylar, which disappointed him. When they arrive at the bank where a group of runaway causes trouble, Noah orders Sylar to stay out of his way and let him handle the escape, but Sylar uses his sharp tongue to convince the police that they are FBI agents so they can get through. Noah managed to free the hostages, but was later taken hostage by himself. Just as Knox and Jesse Murphy (now free from the influence of Peter) will start beating him, Sylar enters and stops them both with his telekinesis, as well as neutralizing Jesse's strength. Noah reminded him of the "plan," and Sylar replied, "You just said that to make sure I did not." Soon after, Sylar loses control, locks Noah out of the bank, and kills Jesse for his powers, allowing Knox to escape. Back at Level 5, Noah mentions to the Haitians that he only plans to partner with Sylar long enough to confirm his weakness, which he will then kill him. When he punished Sylar for Jesse's death, he simply stated that "rehabilitation does not happen overnight."

Later, she and Sylar arrive at Stephen Canfield's house and find Claire there, after trying to catch him, only to find out that she's not really bad. After Canfield opens the vortex, which Claire, Noah, and Sylar can barely suck, and runs away, Noah orders Sylar to shut up after he tries to apologize for what he does, and Claire tells him about the true colors of Canfield. He assures her that he will not put someone on Level 5 who is not included there, and Claire tells him about the existence of Canfield.

When they found Canfield, Noah tried to force him to kill Sylar in exchange for his freedom, obviously convinced that Sylar could not be redeemed, but Canfield instead opened a vortex and annoyed himself, preferring death to be a monster. Noah and Sylar took Claire home, and the first convinced her that she was just doing these things to protect her.

When Claire, Meredith, and Sandra drop Eric Doyle dolls, they call Noah to bring her inside. Noah is impressed that Claire can help bring out a very dangerous man, but Claire throws him out, still mad at him about the Canfield Incident and his partnership with Sylar. Noah then asked Meredith to accompany him as a partner.

After a phone call from Nathan Petrelli at "Eris Quod Sum", he and Meredith went to Mohinder Suresh's laboratory in Isaac Mendez's attic, where he advised Nathan and Tracy Strauss for review by the Company.

In "The Eclipse", when Pinehearst began searching for the catalyst needed to perfect Mohinder's genetic modification formula, which Claire assumed, Noah hid with him at the now abandoned Canfield house and began teaching him how to fight, but the father-son duo was immediately attacked by Sylar and Elle. Because their power (and everyone else) was negated by the solar eclipse, Noah was more than fit for them, even shedding Sylar's arm, but was eventually forced to retreat as Claire took the bullet from Elle that was meant for him. Angry and worried, Noah takes him to the house where he and Sandra are treating his wound, and he decides not to go to the hospital, believe it to be small and do not want to risk his strength again when they are there. He then goes to take revenge on Sylar and Elle over Claire's wounds.

Noah tracks Sylar and Elle to Canfield households and sees them having sex through the scope of sniper rifles. After that, he fired a shot, missed it, and then broke into the house and shot them with the Company's pistol, hitting Elle on his left thigh and forcing them back. While searching for them, Noah receives a call from Sandra where he informs her that Claire is hospitalized. Instead of hurrying to the hospital, Noah followed Elle's blood trail to the local grocery store. After luring him into the back room, Sylar jumps from behind, but he once again loses without his strength fighting Noah's fighting skills. In the end, after throwing out the last insult ( "Gabriel Poor.) You always want to be special Now look at you, you are nobody." ), he cuts Sylar's throat with a box cutter. When he returned home, Claire was understandably angry with her for focusing on Sylar rather than rushing to the hospital. When Claire reveals that she has died in the hospital, Noah is aware of something terrible: if Claire's strength returns, then so does the power of Sylar. Indeed, the recently empowered Sylar and Elle, have managed to reach Bennet's household and hold hostage and Lyle hostage. Sylar telekinetically disarms Noah, pin him to the wall, and begins to strangle him with his strength. Claire despaired to vow to go with Sylar in exchange for leaving her own family, but Sylar was dissatisfied with it and started cutting off Noah's neck, obviously intending to chop it off. Fortunately, Hiro Nakamura arrives, Sylar and Elle teleports away, and then travel time with Claire back to the day when her father first assigns Noah to protect her.

When Claire is returned to the present by Arthur Petrelli, she, Noah, Meredith, and Angela are trapped in Primatech when Sylar starts a lockdown mode. Noah sends three escaped Level 5 inmates (Echo DeMille, Eric Doyle, and Danny Pine) after Sylar as bait, promising freedom to the first to kill Sylar. However, Echo and Danny were killed by Sylar, and Doyle was unable. Soon after, Noah was brought into a trap by Sylar, who locked him in a cell with Meredith, who had been injected with adrenaline, his ability became increasingly uncontrollable, and left him with a gun with a single bullet. Sylar tells him that he has to choose between killing Meredith to save himself and explain his death to Claire, or do anything and be burned to death. However, Claire arrives at that moment, and Meredith, as Noah instructs, heats up the bulletproof glass superheater to weaken it, and then Noah shoots the glass with no success. Claire then with a body throwing herself through the window to help Noah escape, which she did. After Claire "kills" Sylar, she runs away with Noah and Angela like Meredith who eventually loses control of her abilities and releases a big explosion. After that, Noah comforted Claire who cried when they watched Primatech burn out.

Breakout

In "A Clear and Present Danger", Noah is seen working with Nathan Petrelli. When Mohinder Suresh escapes from Homeland Security, Noah arrives at an SUV and rescues him. As they ran away, Noah asked him who he was calling. They get to the exit only to find that the hunter and his men have cut them. Noah apologizes and then the Mohinder tasers. When Peter Petrelli arrived at his apartment, Nathan was waiting for him. After he and Peter spoke, Nathan smiled and asked for a hug, and Noah Tasers Peter from behind. At the end of the episode, Noah is revealed to be a co-pilot of a cargo plane.

In "Trust and Blood", Noah survived the destruction of planes like almost everyone. He was taken by Danko and his army. Bennet pursues the captured heroes and finds Claire and Peter running together. Bennet quickly grabs Claire but wants to shoot Peter, but Claire manages to convince Bennet to let Peter run. Bennet takes Claire back to Nathan. However, after a brief interrogation, Claire was rescued by Daphne and she reunited with Hiro, Ando, Mohinder and Matt. Although Danko's army quickly found Claire and her friends and shot Daphne. Matt then uses his power to take over the army and make them commit suicide. Danko wants to shoot Matt, but Claire takes a bullet for him and gets caught while the others run away. Nathan and Bennet finally convince Claire to return home to Costa Verde, where her mother is revealed to think Claire only spent 2 days to see the college brochure. Bennet while it stays behind looking for a fugitive. While having another chance to bring down Tracy Strauss and Peter, Bennet again chose not to shoot Peter down and let him escape. After capturing Tracy, Nathan even thanked Bennet for it.

In Claire's "Building 26" reveals to his mother, Sandra that Noah has been hunting down individuals with power, and Sandra forces her to move. She tells Claire that she will be there, and expressed a desire to be more honest with her family. He was then shown in a bar, where he was drugged and kidnapped by Peter Petrelli, Matt Parkman, and Mohinder Suresh.

In the "Cold War" Noah is being interrogated by Matt Parkman, Mohinder Suresh, and Peter Petrelli. Matt Parkman managed to reap the memories at the expense of Noah in pain, learning about the operation of hunting people with abilities, this is also where we become Noah color blind. Noah is saved by the Danko people, and tells Danko that he will start working with Danko's heavier approach to their work. However, he later meets with Angela Petrelli, where it is implied that she works with him against Danko. Their exact destination is not clear.

In "Shades of Gray", Nathan fires Danko as the second commander and lifts Noah into the position. Noah receives a call from Claire, who asks how he managed to live a double life all this time, but Noah just tells him that he is the worst person to ask, and because he does not know which way to take, he does not know either. He then warns Angela that Danko will come for her, but Angela says she is ready. When Danko witnessed Nathan's flying abilities, he wondered if Noah knew about it.

In "Turn and Face the Strange", Noah is approached by Sandra in her hotel room, where she forces her divorce papers and tells her that she does not love him anymore. Noah finds out that he's not really "Sandra," but Sylar pretends to be him, because the signature "Sandra" in the newspaper is different from all of his other signatures. Finding this, Noah confronts whom he believes to be Sylar disguised as Sandra in his hotel room, only to discover that it is the real Sandra, who is now afraid of dying him and telling him to get out of the room. After being branded mad by Danko and his men, Noah had to run for his life and leave the operation. He is subsequently seen driving to Coyote Sands, meeting Claire and the Petrelli family.

In "1961", he was seen digging a grave in "Coyote Sands" along with Claire, Peter and Nathan with Angela's command, because of his dream of finding his sister. When the sandstorm hit the spot, he went out looking for Claire and then downgraded by Mohinder, who later explained his father's involvement in the relocation project. After finding and losing Alice again, she is seen together with Claire and the Petrelli family eating at the diner, when Angela decides they should form a new company; a few minutes later, they saw another Nathan at a live press conference, and Noah recognized him as Sylar.

Followed in "I Am Sylar", when Nathan left the diner and Peter followed him, Noah, Claire and Angela decided to leave as well, only to be intercepted on the street by Danko's agent.

In "An Invisible Thread", Noah was arrested by an agent who operated Building 26 shortly before Danko was tricked for killing some of his soldiers by Sylar. When captured, the two shared a brief discussion about forming a partnership, which ultimately was short-lived. After the two were released from their cell by Hiro Nakamura, Danko waited for Noah to reveal what he knew about Sylar's plans and attempts to calm him down. Saved by Hiro, Noah interrupts Claire and Peter shortly after their meeting with Sylar and helps convince the Secret Service to help Peter rescue the President. Then, after Sylar was defeated, he worked with Angela Petrelli and Matt Parkman to bring Nathan's personality to the forefront of Sylar's mind, allowing Sylar to regard Nathan's life posthumously. After dissolving the 26th Building personnel, the money was reallocated to "Nathan" and Noah's suggestion by the President became the new supervisory branch. When asked what to call this branch, Noah suggested, "Company."

Redemption

Behind the events of "An Invisible Thread", "Orientation and Jump, Push, Fall" indicates that Noah Bennet has begun to revive the Company under the auspices of the United States government, but with a slow start. Tracy Strauss remains undiscovered and appears to be killing anyone who has a hand in her detention.

Regardless of his efforts in his life, the Bennet survived with the help of Emile Danko, he refused to start hunting the superman as a judge, preferring to try and start a new Company under a better pretense. While eating in a restaurant below his apartment, Tracy Strauss approached him, apparently to mock him for his impending death. However, Bennet offers it a unique opportunity to just leave; if he does, he promises to stop Danko - permanently. After recruiting The Haitian to erase Danko's memory, Tracy appears to kill her, only to discover that Danko no longer remembers it. As he leaves, he hears Danko being attacked by an unknown assailant, Edgar, from a carnival, only to attack himself. After that, he summoned Bennet who found the key attacked by the assailant in Danko's body.

Throughout the show, Bennet also tried to help Claire adjust to her new life in college while managing her own divorce from Sandra.

Bennet summoned Peter Petrelli to help him check out the open safe, which Peter agreed to get a chance to get the super attacker's superpower. They were attacked only once they found one, an antique compass in a safe, even though Peter grabbed his upper hand and forced his back. After that, Bennet held the compass halfheartedly, feeling that it was a dead end.

After being attacked later for a compass and barely surviving, Noah calls Tracy to talk about his new adjustments and for his company. The two shared food together which Peter left to comfort Noah.

In "Reception", after visiting Claire giving some wise counsel, Noah begins to realize that he wants to go back to doing what he's good at, that is to investigate the super man. Later, Tracy sought Noah's advice as well, and she gave him the same message Claire said: go back to the bottom to understand where to go from there.

In "Tabula Rasa", Peter comes to Noah for a physician to save Hiro's life; Noah dropped Jeremy Greer's name, past targets & amp; mission tags, so both teleport to Cainan, GA . After discovering Jeremy's power change from healing to killing when he is angry at his parents, killing them, Noah helps him conquer his fear of killing others, and then he is able to heal Peter; Noah states that his own strength is to understand people with abilities. Peter leaves after he imitates Jeremy's healing touch, but Noah still makes sure Jeremy gets the help he needs, especially since Noah feels he let Jeremy down in the past.

In "Strange Pullers", despite Noah's efforts to cover up Jeremy's parents' death, the local sheriff held him back, so Noah enlists Tracy Strauss to help Jeremy start from the beginning. Just as Jeremy came out, the townspeople were convinced Jeremy was guilty of the charge, and their fear Jeremy accidentally killed a man, so he was taken away by the police again, away from Noah and Tracy. They found the body that night and lamented their failure. Tracy told Noah to never call her again, and the two agreed to part.

In "Once Upon a Time in Texas", 3 years ago, during the time he worked for Primatech Paper as the Volume One "Genesis" event revealed ( Seven Minutes to Midnight ), Noah was shown to share a special bond with fellow corporate agent Lauren Gilmore, who was her confidant when Noah was unable to tell her family what her work really needed, especially Isaac's painting involving Claire. Noah and Lauren shared a kiss in Lauren's motel room while wrapped in romantic moments, but Noah stopped the kiss, feeling that he was betraying Sandra, and she and Lauren apologized for letting it get out of hand. Upon returning to the base, Lauren gives him an envelope, where he finds a note from him saying that he has emptied the Haitian memory of his crush on Noah, so they can cooperate without caring, and then write a note to Noah so he knows this.

In "Shadowboxing", Noah shows up at Becky's dormitory with the Haitians. Claire noticed her friends had erased her thoughts and argued with Noah about what she could do with those around her, afraid they would erase Gretchen's memory as well. After Claire and Haiti went to check Gretchen, Noah came out to find Becky in his room, and though he was not seen, he claimed he knew how to deal with him because he once had an invisible spouse ( Claude ). Becky confesses why she attacked Claire; Noah killed his father when he was little when his bag & amp; mission tags. Noah missed her as two girls entered the room. Back to Claire, she finds Samuel Sullivan with her. Getting her protection, she shackles Samuel, but Becky comes to drop Claire and Noah. Samuel takes Noah's taser and Becky's shock says he knows he's screwed. Noah tries to attack him, pushing Claire away. After Samuel and Becky leave, Noah apologizes to Claire, and then leaves. Once in his apartment, he saw some of the files labeled belong to Samuel, including the mysterious sinkhole that destroyed the manor ( Ink ).

In "Brother's Keeper" Noah went home to find Claire and Tracy sharing a quality moment, and noticing the frozen feet on the coffee table. Both girls said nothing happened.

In "Thanksgiving", Noah invited Claire to her first Thanksgiving dinner so she will not be alone with Sandra and her new boyfriend. At the grocery store, he ran to Lauren Gilmore, who jokingly admitted he was "stalking"; he then helps Noah to shop. After Claire arrived at Noah's apartment, Claire watched Lauren, who referred to her as the date of Noah, whom she rejected; once Sandra and Doug arrived, Sandra mistook her for Lauren as a maid; after correction, Sandra sure Lauren will be Noah's date as well. During dinner, Claire confessed her decision to leave college, which Noah immediately opposed. After Claire cuts herself and Doug faints, she and Noah discuss clippings on Noah's wall; Noah insisted Samuel and the carnival were dangerous and showed him a compass. Gretchen then appears, and tells Claire that she's invited by Noah because Claire feels bad about those days. After everyone leaves, Noah assures Claire that she has many choices, not knowing she then takes this advice to visit the carnival. Before leaving, Lauren asks Noah to go out and watch a movie one day.

In the "Fifth Stage", Lauren shows up at Noah's apartment ready to go on a date, but Noah notices Claire taking a compass and has to go to "Sullivan Bros. Carnival", so Lauren decides to help her use her CIA contact. That night, Eli appears in place looking for Primatech files, surrounds Lauren and Noah with clones; both attacking the clones and hiding in the bathroom to arm themselves. Upon exiting again, they see Eli and the lost clones, and they take the files with them.

In "Upon This Rock", Noah is seen at Nathan's funeral.

In "Let It Bleed", Noah offers to bring Claire to Nathan, but he becomes irritated with her and realizes that Sylar killed Nathan and Noah turns Sylar into Nathan. Noah admits that he did the wrong thing and that he thought he did it to keep Sylar and Nathan alive at the same time but Claire was angry and told him that she needed time to grieve, without being reminded of the truth.

In "The Wall," to change Claire against her father, Samuel has Damien use his power to project Noah's memories in the House of Mirrors. This shows that Noah started out as an overly honest used car salesman who had a pregnant wife until he was killed by a man with telekinetic powers during a robbery who sent Noah after he sought revenge. He also became less honest. When he finds a man with power, Noah demands the location of the murderer's location that the man does not know and attacks him. Noah was forced to kill the man, the first time he killed someone and this brought him to the attention of the Company who recruited him. To curb his more violent tendency toward specials, they told him to marry Sandra who was a waitress at a restaurant where she and Thompson ate together. Although Claire is horrified by the origins of her parents' marriage, Noah assures him that she really loves Sandra even though their marriage is arranged and her opinion of Noah does not turn out to be bad, so Samuel locks them up in a trailer together and buries them underground in command for forcing Claire to witness her death as she survives because of her strength.

In "Brave New World," after being rescued from dying by Tracy Strauss, Noah, Claire and Lauren go to Carnival to stop Samuel's plan to kill thousands. While Claire tries to convince the carnies of the truth, Noah tries to find Samuel, but is captured by Edgar. Once he explained that he was there to stop Samuel and not hurt anyone, Edgar, who also wanted to stop Samuel, worked with him to do so. Both arrive in time to support Claire's accusation that Samuel killed Joseph and was responsible for Lydia's death and what she planned. When Eli who had been brainwashed supported them, the carnies trusted them and left Samuel who started the quake, while Noah and Claire tried to make everyone safe. Thanks to Peter who is against Samuel, Noah and Claire have enough time to look for Hiro and Ando and ask them to move all the carnies. Noah stayed behind to finish the job and arrived after Peter defeated the helpless Samuel who fainted in despair as everyone abandoned him. Noah had caught him and covered the incident with Lauren's help until Claire climbed up the Ferris Wheel to expose her power to the world she said Lauren was breaking her heart. Noah watched as Claire jumped from the Ferris Wheel in front of all the news cameras.

Heroes Reborn

Bennet is the central character in the 2015-16 miniseries Heroes Reborn , first seen in the Dark Matters web series, living as a car salesman four years after the public revealed Claire. He is tracked by Quentin Frady, who has researched Primatech and Renautas after the Odessa disaster and the kidnapping of his sister.

It was revealed that Bennet was present in Odessa on June 13 when Evo Summit was bombed. Noah was there to meet Claire, who she believed had died in the attack. Since then, he has lived under the identity of Ted Barnes and has been trying to get on with his life. After being confronted by Quentin, he begins to question what is really happening at the top and continues his old identity to investigate. He followed the instructions to the ophthalmology clinic in Dallas administered by Haiti. The Haitians return to Noah his distinctive glass before trying to kill him. Two struggles before Bennett shoots him, kills him.

Bennet then decided to work with Quentin to discover the truth behind the summit. Second trip to Primatech to restore the old Noah file in hopes of reuniting with Molly Walker.

After rescuing Hiro Nakamura in "Game Over", Noah had Hiro take him back to the Evo Summit to save Claire and stop the bombing. After witnessing his past being taken by Erica Kravid, Noah was discovered by Angela Petrelli who told her that Claire had been rushed to the hospital and was in surgery. While Hiro tries to stop the bomb, Noah rushes to the hospital with Angela only to find out that Claire has died while giving birth to twins. Noah said tears welled to Claire who did not revive for some reason. Hiro shows up to him and tells him that he can not stop the bomb, there are too many variables and every attempt to stop him produces a worse future. As Hiro and Noah prepare to return to their own time, Phoebe Frady unleashes a huge wave of darkness that drained Hiro's power just before Harris bombed the summit. Back at Claire's children, Angela tells Noah that the Earth's magnetic poles will soon turn and the solar flares will destroy all life on Earth. Erica Kravid only intends to save the people she wants and Angela has predicted that one or both Claire children hold the key to save the world. Noah realized that his memory had been removed to protect Claire's children from Erica Kravid and decided that the safest place for them was in the past where they could grow and prepare for their destiny. When they reach the right time, Erica will look for a toddler, not a teenager. Hiro reluctantly agrees to take Angela back to 1999 to fulfill Noah's request while Noah intends to remove all the baby's security recordings. Before Hiro and Angela left, Noah and Angela named the babies as Claire never did: Angela named Claire's boy Nathan after Nathan Petrelli, while Noah named Claire's daughter Malina after her own mother. After Angela, Hiro and the children are gone, Noah realizes that Erica is in the hospital and is hunting her to kill her. His past self, after escaping with the help of Caspar Abraham, sees Noah and chases him.

In "11:53 to Odessa", Noah tries to get Malina to Odessa to stop H.E.L.E. but during a massive storm, a car was thrown at him. Noah suddenly disappears leaving only his broken glasses.

In "Project Reborn", Tommy learns that for him and Malina to stop H.E.L.E., they need a third person to act as a channel for their power, someone willing to sacrifice himself to save the world. Tommy returned within two days and saved Noah's life, transporting him seven years into the past when Angela tested the strength of the twins. Noah watched as Angela declared that there was a faceless third person in her vision and seemed to look right at Noah. Tommy explained to Noah that after failing to stop H.E.L.E. "A thousand times", he realizes Noah is the key: if Noah acts as their channel, they can stop him, but it will be fatal to him. Noah tells Tommy to take him to the present where he takes Malina's hand. Though Tommy protests, Noah tells him that this is his destiny and Tommy takes his hand. With the encouragement of Tommy's power, Malina fires bursts of energy into the sky through Noah, causing him great pain but managed to protect the planet from H.E.L.E. and save the world. After the future changed, Tommy and Malina found Noah sitting on the ground, almost dead. Noah saw his grandson for the last time and told them that he was proud of them before dying.

Alternate future

  • In the alternative future of "Five Years of Lost", Noah Bennet (who does not wear trademarked horn spectacles) works with Hana Gitelman to protect people with superpowers so as not to be persecuted by the now fearful government. It is revealed that he tried to make Claire hidden from the registry. Though she is estranged from Claire, she visits him at a restaurant to warn him to leave. When he arrives back at work, he finds Hannah killed, and Matt Parkman, now head of the Department of Homeland Security, and his men are waiting for him. He does not realize Parkman has killed Hannah and violated their agreement, and Parkman's hand drawing was drawn by his son. Parkman held the gun at him and demanded to know where Claire was. Bennet refused to answer, so Parkman read Bennet's mind to take Claire's location. Parkman then shot Bennet in the head.
  • In the future of the "I Am Being Death" alternative, as depicted in the graphic novel "Resistance", Claire notes that she has lost both parents.

Name

Noah Bennet was originally introduced as a "man in horn-rimmed glasses," based on his typical glasses. Coleman's spectacles in most of the scenes are actually browlines, not horn-rimmed, but no characters seem to notice the difference. In the third episode, "One Giant Leap", his name was confirmed as "Mr. Bennet" and he is sometimes referred to like that ever since. However, the "Horned-Beam Glasses" (or variants of it) are names that are more often used by characters, albeit indirectly. For example, a character who does not know him personally usually describes him as a "horn-framed horned man". Regarding the Bennet name given, Coleman has admitted that it was deliberately avoided. This is evident in "Distractions," where Mrs. Bennet states that he was amused that everyone called him "Tuan", and almost stated his first name before being bullied. His driver's license, shown by Sylar in the same episode, does not show his first name. According to Coleman, the first name of the character is written from the draft script because "it stopped the cold scene." In the last episode of season 1, "How to Stop the Explosive", Mr. Bennet told Peter Petrelli to call him "Noah."

Ironically, perhaps in a nod to an inaccurate character name, Bennet tried a pair of actual framed horn glasses in a flashback sequence at the end of "Company Man". She decides not to wear it when Claire describes them as "grandfather's glasses". Claire then chose the browline sunglasses (stating that she is now seen "like my dad"), which she then uses from that point forward.

In an interview with TV Guide Jack Coleman was asked "are the horned glasses of your idea, or the authors?" Coleman replied:
