Controversy
Interview with Justin Gimelstob
Interview with tennis player Justin Gimelstob made international headlines for comments made by Gimelstob about Anna Kournikova and other female tennis players. Gimelstob was reprimanded by his boss, Tennis Channel, and donated to the Women's Sports Foundation as a result of the incident.
Interview with Rob Ford
The Junkies created international controversy on December 5, 2013, when they interviewed Rob Ford, mayor of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At the interview, Ford was involved in a scandal that resulted from him using drugs and alcohol. Interviews were conducted when Junkies hosted their periodic gambling tournament at The Borgata. Producers Matt Cahill and Matt Myers arranged an interview with Ford's interest in the National Football League and most of the interviews focused on Ford's predictions for the upcoming NFL match that weekend. During the interview, Bishop asked Ford to confirm the latest press allegations that he had tried to buy an incriminating video that allegedly showed him smoking cocaine. Ford denied the allegations and turned the interview back to the topic of football.
Canadian media closely followed the interview primarily because Ford has not responded to their questions about trying to buy incriminating videos. At the end of the interview, Ford invited Junkies to hold a show at his office in Toronto and also agreed to come regularly to discuss football. Within hours, major American media outlets, including CNN and NBC, featured news of the interview.
