The University of Kentucky cheerleading squad is one of the most successful college cheerleader programs in the world. Representing the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, the British team has won the National Cheerleaders Association Cheerlead Association National Championship of an unprecedented, twenty-three times, in 1985, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 , 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018, more than other 1A Division schools. The University of Kentucky's cheerleading team is undoubtedly the best college lover squad in the world.

The England squad is the only team to win the championship twice, once in 1987 and 1988 and again in 1995 and 1996. In 2013, The University of Memphis beat Britain. For the first time in the history of cheerleading, Britain did not repeat the title. England's final victory is in 2018. By winning in 2018 this is the first three peat since 2008-2010 three peat.

The UK Cheerleader program is recognized in the cheerleader circle as perhaps the best cheer program in America as the squad has been placed first 23 times and placed second six times in the National Championships. The squad also generates significant vocal support and enthusiasm for some of the best athletic programs in the country. The Kentucky Wildcats basketball team is the country's greatest college basketball program and has won the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championships eight times. In December 2009, the Kentucky Wildcats football team made a fourth consecutive bowl appearance.


The squad receives substantial media exposure. Having finished in the top ten every year since the existence of the UCA College National Championship, every year the England squad is seen in the ESPN Television Championship Program, which airs at least eight times nationwide.

Squads are often the subject of the story by television and radio stations and newspapers. The squad has been featured on CBS Evening News, Eye to Eye with Connie Chung, and CBS Morning Show, and in Southern Living magazine , GQ , ESPN The Magazine , and Seventeen . In 2017, the University of Kentucky cheerleaders were chosen to represent the United States at the 2018 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. They are selected by the ICU which is the International Cheer Union. The cheerleaders have not competed in the Olympic Games, but they will be performing and cheering on other USA athletes. The goal is for the cheerleaders to be added to the Summer Olympics in the future, perhaps with the 2020 games to be held in Tokyo Japan.

There will be six other countries participating in the Winter Olympics in Seoul, South Korea such as Norway, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Canada and the Netherlands. With six other countries, the United States will send college college guidance teams to represent America. The student athletes will land in Seoul on February 18, 2018 and will return on 29 February 2018.

The cheerleaders have performed in part-time Denver Nuggets (previously trained by British graduate, Dan Issel) and Miami Heat (trained by British graduate, Pat Riley).
