Initially, Kring designed the series to have an ever-changing player. However, his motivation changed when he realized how popular the original players were with the audience; therefore, he brought back most of the first season players for the second season, with some additions receiving billing stars. Although the first NBC casting page in the first season contains only ten characters, Leonard Roberts, who first appeared in the fifth episode of this series as D. L. • Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura, an office worker who can manipulate space-time

Simone Deveaux is the first main character to be written, dead towards the end of season one. DL became a guest star after the events of the end of the first season, making two appearances throughout the second season. Isaac Mendez was also written, dead in the hands of Sylar, shown during Hiro Nakamura's travel expedition to New York at the start of season one.

Beginning in the third season, Angela Petrelli's recurring character, described by Cristine Rose, is promoted to the main character. Elle, Adam, and Micah were expelled from the main players. Synopsis

Plot Heroes is designed to be told in a manner similar to how comic books are told. Each season Heroes contains one or two "volumes". There are several main storylines in each volume. As the main groove develops, smaller and more intimate stories are told in it. Each main character story is developed separately and over time their traffic and described how their stories are interconnected and connected. It is a story of ordinary people who discover incredible super powers after the solar eclipse reveals them, and how these capabilities affect the daily life of the characters.

The first season, known as "Volume One: Genesis," begins with a seemingly ordinary group of people who gradually become aware that they have special abilities. Developing stories show their reactions to this power, and how these findings affect their personal and professional lives. At the same time, some ordinary people are investigating the origin and extent of this ability. Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), a research geneticist, continues his father's late research into the biological source of strength, while Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) represents, and is the main agent for, a secret organization known only as the "Company" control and, if necessary, stop those who are gifted. After only having a short time to reach their new abilities, each hero is drawn to the final showdown. They each have to do their part to stop the destruction of the world that begins with the impending explosion at Kirby Plaza in New York City.

The second season, known as "Volume Two: Generation", begins four months after the incident at Kirby Plaza. The main Generation Plot deals with the Company and its research on the Shanti virus. In a flashback to 1977, the research was conducted by the founders of the Company, whose identity was finally revealed, to discover what the effects of various strains of the virus would be on human and human populations. This virus is locked and locked in Primatech Paper, Company facility used as front. Back in the present, the heroes must unite in an effort to stop the release of deadly virus strains and prevent a global pandemic.

The first part of season three is called "Volume Three: Villains". Volume three begins with the assassination attempt of Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar), a flying political figure, and explores the consequences. Meanwhile, some criminals fled from Level 5 limits, the maximum security area owned and operated by the Company in Primatech, and Noah Bennet attempted to recapture it. Arthur Petrelli (Robert Forster), Nathan Petrelli's father, recovered from systemic nerve damage and aims to create a formula to give people super-ordinary abilities. The second part of season three, "Volume Four: Fugitive", reveals what happened after Nathan failed to produce the formula. After the destruction of Primatech and Pinehearst, Primatech's competitor company, the heroes sought to live a normal life until Nathan started his plan to gather everyone with ability. Sylar kills Nathan in a strong duel. However, since Nathan is a leading political player, Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), who has power over the minds of people, is instructed to change Sylar's mind so that he will believe that he is Nathan and take his place. It has a negative side effect that causes Sylar's consciousness caught in Matt Parkman's mind.

The fourth season contains "Volume Five: Redemption", and lasts six weeks after the events of the third season. The heroes try to get back to their normal life; Peter returned to his job as a paramedic, while Claire went to college. Sylar's body caused his previously acquired ability to manifest as he struggled with a forced identity as Nathan. Sylar's real consciousness, caught in Matt Parkman's mind, mocked Matt and searched for his own body. Meanwhile, Hiro has to deal with his brain tumor that slowly kills him and prevents him from controlling his powers. Carnival groups are introduced whose leader, Samuel, is trying to recruit more people with abilities into the carnival family. Samuel claims he created a community for special people where they are welcome to be open to their abilities and respected by outsiders. In fact, he brings together as many people as possible with the ability to build his own power, move the earth. The more special people around him, the stronger the power. The heroes must unite against Samuel and his plan to expose "special" to the world by killing thousands of people. The end of the series ends with the unlocked "Volume Six: Brave New World" where Claire reveals the whereabouts of people with special abilities for a group of reporters and photographers. The series imitates how it started, with the last scene involving Claire Bennet jumping from a building and stating "my name is Claire Bennet, and that is the experimental number - I guess I like losing count."

Production

Conception

Hero started development in early 2006, when Tim Kring, creator of NBC Crossing Jordan , came up with the concept of the show. Kring wants to create a "big saga ensemble" that will connect with the audience. He starts thinking about how big, scary, and complicated he feels in the world, and wants to create a series of characters about people who can do things. Kring feels that the police or medical drama does not have enough character to save the world. He comes up with superhero thinking; ordinary people who will find extraordinary abilities, while still rooted in the real world and in reality. Director directors Jason La Padura and Natalie Hart featured a number of new faces such as Milo Ventimiglia that portrayed the pilot as "the character drama of ordinary people with increasing reality." Said the escalating reality revealed through the work of production designer Ruth Ammon. Kring wants this series to have touch stones that involve the character and the world in which they live.

Before he started collecting his ideas, he talked to executive producer Lost Damon Lindelof, with whom he worked for three years at Crossing Jordan. Kring praised Lindelof for giving him the idea of how to catapult series to the network and advise on the lessons he (Lindelof) learned about working on serial dramas. Both are still talking and supporting their respective projects. When Kring proposed the idea for Heroes to NBC's network, he described the network's reaction as "passionate... very supportive." He commented that he has partnered with NBC for some time based on six years running as a showrunner for Crossing Jordan. When he installed the pilot, he explained every detail, including the end of the cliffhanger. When NBC's executives asked him what would happen next, Kring replied, "Well, you just have to wait and find out." After the project was illuminated by a green light, a special version 73 minutes from the trial was first screened for a large audience at San Diego Comic-Con International 2006. Initially it was reported that the unpaired pilot would not be released, but it included in a seasonal DVD set.

Write

When the author's team works on an episode, each author takes on characters and writes individual scenes around him. These stories are then combined and given to the episode writer. This system allows each writer to contribute to each episode, and allows the writer team to complete the script faster, so the filmmaking crew can record more scenes in a location. Kring describes the writing process as a collaboration and states that the collaboration process is important because production is required to take multiple scenes in one location. To do this, some scripts must be ready. Jesse Alexander, a co-producer and writer, explains that this process is important in a serial drama because one must know where each character's development is heading.

The second season coincides with the WGA writers' strike, which means only 11 of the 24 episodes are planned to be produced. This forces producers to redesign the season to cover only the Generations volume of the planned three. The planned third volume, Output , originally designed to be a story arc reflecting the effects of the 138 strain release of the Shanti virus, was canceled. The fourth planned volume, Villain , was changed to third volume and moved to season three. The scene from the final two volume, "Powerless", is copied to reflect the canceled volume of Output , and to bind all storyline storylines Generations .

After criticism of the second and third volumes, Tim Molloy of the TV Guide reported that Heroes would return to its roots with a fourth volume, Fugitive , to attract new viewers and regain those who surrendered on the show due to too many characters and plotlines. In November 2008, NBC fired Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb from Heroes production staff for creative differences and budgetary issues. As a result, Kring will refocus the character development series and simple storytelling. However, high-level people told TV Guides that rather than pressure from NBC or Universal Media responding to recent fall ratings, Kring himself fired Alexander and Loeb because the duo refused to continue the driven character. a story that made the first season popular from the start. In December 2008, Bryan Fuller signed a 2-year contract with Universal Media Studios after the abortion of his ABC series Pushing Daisies . He joined the writing staff of Heroes beginning with the 20th episode of the third season and has a "key role in writing and direction" of the series. However, on June 22 it was revealed that Fuller left Heroes to work on another project. On April 28, 2009, director/producer Greg Beeman was fired by NBC.

Music

The series scores were composed by Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, with music engineer Michael Perfitt and vocals provided by Shankar. Each episode averages thirty to thirty five minutes of music. Melvoin and Coleman were involved with Heroes from their previous work with executive producer Allan Arkush. Kring gives general instructions to the couple, including emotions and directions for each character. Kring wanted great music and gave Melvoin and Coleman plenty of freedom and permission to experiment. In the pilot episode, Kring suggested that the "dream" gesture be used in a scene involving Claire Bennet running to a burning train. The "dreamy" cues have since become part of the signature of the show. Melvoin and Coleman developed musical cues for each character. Claude's theme involves wind and sound to create a feeling of ghostly presence. Sylar involves marimbas and bassoons with staccato to re-create the ticking clock sounds referring to the strength of the character. Matt Parkman's theme involves a voice being played backwards when he uses telepathic powers. Peter Petrelli's theme involves string marcato. The Niki Sanders theme is based on her character alter-ego named Jessica and involves wind and Indian sounds chanting in the bottom line to give a feeling that she's possessed. The theme of Mohinder Suresh is the piano composition that is played at the end of several episodes.

In 2007, ASCAP Music Film and Television Awards awarded "Upper Television Series" to Melvoin and Coleman for their work at Heroes. In France, the theme music Heroes is composed by Victoria Petrosillo. The song, "Le HÃÆ' Â © ros d'un autre", is used by the TF1 television network to replace the original incidental music show. The network creates a new opening credit order so they can play the Petrosillo theme song. Soundtrack Heroes was officially released on March 18, 2008 by The NBCUniversal Television, DVD, Music & amp; Consumer Products Group. On February 29, 2008, the Group released five music videos made by producer/director Heroes Allan Arkush, each incorporating a recording of the show with songs from the soundtrack. In September 2008, Melvoin and Coleman announced that they will release an album entirely composed of a score of Heroes , titled Heroes: Original Score . The album was released on April 14, 2009 by La-La Land Records.

Image capture and visual effects

Eric Grenaudier and John Han of Stargate Digital are visual effects watchers and Mark Spatny is the producer of visual effects for Heroes . They work with visual effects animators Anthony Ocampo and Ryan Wieber, who are also from Stargate. Visual effects series consists of blue screen and 2D and 3D animation. Visual effects for the series are made after the scene is taken post-production, unlike special effects, which are inserted into the scene during the filming. Famous visual effects include radioactive Ted in "Company Man", Nathan flew from Mr. Bennet and The Haitian in "Hiros", and Hiro who froze during a meeting with a student in a red bow in "One Giant Leap". Special effects are coordinated by Gary D'Amico. The action is coordinated by Ian Ouinn, who also uses a blue screen to complete some action in the series, as Nathan Petrelli flies away from Heidi during a car accident scene in "Six Months ago". The main filming for Heroes takes place in Los Angeles and Santa Clarita, California. The Stargate Digital team is also responsible for making Los Angeles look like an international location, like India and Ukraine, using a blue screen and designing by Ruth Ammon, the production designer for this series. The series was filmed using a single camera setting.

In accordance with the comic book thematic elements used in Heroes , professional comic book artists Tim Sale and Alex Maleev were brought in to provide the artwork used in the series under Ruth Ammon's direction, including works of art from Isaac Mendez, and Mendez's series of metaphysics comic books, The 9 Wonders! . In addition, the fonts used in the description and credit for the event are reminiscent of traditional comic book writing. It was made by Sale and is based on his handwriting style. Hero is designed by production designer Ruth Ammon. Ammon has been nominated for his work on Heroes twice by Art Directors Guild and has also been nominated for two Emmy Awards for excellence in the art direction.

Heroes: Origin

On May 14, 2007, NBC announced that they will be airing six episodes of the Heroes spin-off called Heroes: Origins during the 2007-08 season. The show is to introduce new characters every week, and viewers have to choose which ones will survive for the next season of the regular series. The event should air after the second season of Heroes in April 2008; However, on October 31, 2007, it was reported that The Origin has been suspended due to a Guild of America Writers strike. Kring stated in an interview that the first episode of Origins was to reveal the secrets and meanings behind the Helix symbol. However, due to WGA Strike, Kring commented that his secret should be lowered. Kring reveals that he wrote the first episode of Origins , and that John August has been hired to write another episode. Director Kevin Smith, Heroes fans, is set to write and direct episodes for spin-offs, such as Eli Roth and Michael Dougherty. On April 3, 2008, the day after NBC announced the primetime schedule 2008-2009, Ben Silverman confirmed the cancellation of Origins '.

Mythology

Hero includes some mysterious fictional recurring elements that are deemed to come from science fiction or supernatural phenomena. Kring and the creator of the series refer to these fictional elements as part of the mythology of this series. Kring insists that although the show has a unique mythology, he does not want to sink too deeply. Instead, Kring uses volumes to wrap the flow of an ongoing path rather than carrying the storyline in a long time as in Lost . Among the mythological elements of the show are the Company, the legend of Takezo Kensei, future paintings, super powers and their origins, the Shanti virus, comic book Ke 9 Wonders! , and many other mythological elements and themes.

Response

Critical reception

The first season received very positive reviews. During the season, the American Film Institute named Heroes one of the top ten "best television programs of the year". Doug Elfman of Chicago Sun-Times stated, "The super powers of this show are the well-developed filmmaking, smoothness and the perfect performer, which is seen as the first hour of a fun and attentive movie." Barry Garron at The Hollywood Reporter also stated, " Heroes is one of the most imaginative TV creations and may, by luck, be this year Lost . "The less favorable reviews include The Philadelphia Inquirer , who commented that although the show had many" cool effects, "it" landed, splashed, in a pile of unreasonable and bleak dialogue. " In response to the first season episode of the episode, The Chicago Tribune went so far as to say, "You can watch some of the first episodes of Heroes, or you can repeatedly beat yourself in the head with a brick The effect is very similar. "In Metacritic, Heroes pilots received 67/100, with generally favorable reviews from critics. This event was declared the fourth highest ranked event for the first ten years IMDbPro (2002-2012).

The second season generally received positive reviews, but was criticized by commentators and fans for a much slower pace, less interesting storyline and lack of focus compared to the first season. Milo Ventimiglia states that "when there is little delay, no instant, scenes or moments or episodes are useful... people get impatient, so it's important for them to balance between giving and getting." In an interview with Entertainment Weekly , Creator Hero creator Tim Kring commented on criticisms on season two, and a 15% rating downgrade in the rankings. Kring says that he feels he has made a mistake with the direction of the second season. He thinks that viewers are looking for "buildup of character and discovery of their power", when viewers instead search for "adrenaline." Kring also underlined what he feels is a problem with the development of the plot, which states that the two seasons "too long to get to the big picture story", explains that Peter's vision of a viral disaster should occur in the first episode, not the seventh. He feels that it would be better to introduce a new character in the context of the main storyline, like Elle, rather than in unbound arcs like Maya and Alejandro. Kring also admitted that he had to finish the storyline "Hiro in Japan" much faster, and his romantic stories did not go well. With regard to Claire and the West, and Hiro and Yaeko, she said, "I've seen more convincing romance on TV.In retrospect, I do not think romance is natural for us."

Season three and four have the same rough acceptance. The Los Angeles Times said, "Even just half an hour, it's hard not to expect everyone just to lighten the heck ups." Noir graphics novels feel increasingly oppressive, and everyone is so bleak. "The New The York Post said: "This show, once so tense and fun, has become full of itself, its character spouting mad nonsense."

Awards and nominations

At Heroes completing the first half of the first season, the event has garnered numerous awards and honors. On December 13, 2006, Writer Guild of America nominated the program for the "best new series" of 2007. On December 14, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association nominated the program for the Golden Globe Award for "best television drama", and nominated Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura) for Best Supporting Actor in the TV Series. On July 21, 2007, the Television Critics Association rewarded Heroes with a prestigious Annual Position Program title during their 23rd Annual TCA Awards ceremony. The cast of Heroes is named in the 2006 edition Person of the Year 2006 under "People Who Mattered".

Ratings

The pilot episode generated 14.3 million viewers, with a high season peak in 16.03 million viewers for episode 9. When the series returned from hiatus on January 22, 2007, the average rating was almost the same as the pilot with 14.9 million viewers. When the show took place on the second hiatus during the first season, from March 4, 2007 to April 23, 2007 (7 weeks), the ratings reached new lows; the lowest is 11.14 million viewers during the one of the last three sections, "The Hard Part." In the second season, the opener is consistent in the rankings, however, week-by-week, the ratings continue to dive, reaching another new low for the series on episode seven, "Out of Time", with just 9.87 million viewers. Despite its lower-than-average rating, this episode is considered a turning point for a declining season, as a major plot twist is introduced and a large "pictorial storyline" of volume is presented. Final season two/volume 2 produced 11.06 million viewers in the rankings, down more than 3 million viewers from the season opener and the pilot series.

While the show aired with a high ranking, the rankings gradually diminished along the way. The first episode of the second season is the highest seen, whereas each successive season has fewer viewers than the previous one.

The three season Heroes starts with a strong assessment that continues to fall throughout the season. The end of the season is placed last in its timeslot.

The first four season of Heroes is the lowest episode rated from series to the point, averaging 5.9 million viewers. Despite low ratings this season, executive producer Tim Kring "fully expects" the fifth season. However, while creator Kring is keen on the future of the show, many people in the media are not so confident. There has been growing speculation on some news sites that NBC will cancel the series at the end of its fourth season or that it may renew the event for the fifth and final season by ordering 6 or 13 episodes and possibly showing it as a backup or mid-replacement -season. On May 14, 2010, NBC made it official that Heroes was canceled.

Promotions and fandom

Following the debut of Heroes in 2006, Save the Cheerleader tagline Save the World is recognized in the television industry as an effective marketing tool. In 2006, NBC also created a parody of Heroes titled Zeroes . Zeroes , released as viral videos on the site including YouTube, a parody feature including four chapters and an open audition. The development and production of the project is concealed from Kring. NBC hosted the panel in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Comic-Cons in San Diego to promote the series. Big announcements have been made during the panel, along with a glimpse of the upcoming season. In 2006, the Heroes panel presented all the seasons of a 72-minute pilot. In 2008 the first half of the premiere third season was shown. Comic-Con also allows players and crew to answer questions from the press and from fans. On July 21, 2007, Kring announced that the cast and crew members of Heroes will be traveling the world for the Heroes World Tour to promote a one-season DVD release and two seasons to come.. The tour takes place in North America (New York and Toronto), Asia (Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong) and Europe (Munich, Paris and London). The tour began on August 26, and ended on September 1, 2007. The post-hardcore bands of Alesana and I See Stars have both named songs each after the show, "It's Usually The Part Where People Are Yelling" and "Saving the Guides cheer ".
