The Church of Thomas Haden (born Thomas Richard McMillen , June 17, 1960) is an American actor, director and author. After starring in the 1990s sitcom of Wings, Church became famous for her film roles, including her Academy Award nominations at Sideways and her role as Sandman in Spider -Man 3 . He also made his directing debut with Rolling Kansas .

The church was born in Yolo, California, son of Maxine (nÃÆ' Â © e Sanders) and Carlos "Carl" Richard McMillen (1936-2008), who served for eight years in the Marines and saw action in the Korean War; after 1962, Carlos worked as a surveyor. Parents of the Church divorced and his mother moved to Texas. He remarried in 1969, to the widowhood of George A. Quesada, a veteran of the Air Force Air Force reconnaissance unit who served in Guam during World War II. The church took the name of his stepfather's family for a while but turned it into a "Haden Church" based on other relatives when people found Quesada difficult to pronounce. He left high school in 1977 to work in the Louisiana oilfield, but he graduated from Harlingen High School in 1979. He attended the University of North Texas while living in Dallas.

Careers

The Church started in the entertainment business as a radio personality and did the voice work. He changed his name to "The Church of Thomas Haden", taking "Haden" and "Church" from his ancestors. After appearing in independent films, he moved to California to pursue an acting career. His character gave the last love letter from "Eddie Labec" to "Carla" in the episode of "Cheers", "Death Bringing a Vacation on Ice". He played part of Lowell Mather's sluggish plane mechanics for six seasons (1990-95) on the NBC Wings sitcom.

She worked on television for two more seasons with a lead role in Ned & amp; Stacey across from Debra Messing. He has had supporting roles in movies like Tombstone , George of the Jungle , and The Specials . He often plays as a villain or comic relief in the movie, as in Demon Knight .

The Church bought a farm in Texas in 1998. In late 2000 he took a break from the film. After minor roles in movies like Monkeybone , he made his directorial debut with Rolling Kansas in 2003. He has a voiceover. working on advertising, such as Merrill Lynch and Icehouse beer.

In 2003, director Alexander Payne called him about the role of "Jack", the selfish best friend for the character Paul Giamatti, in Sideways. During the audition, the Church was stripped naked to read the audition scene, then said "To me, it's very clear... I'm reading the scene where Jack comes naked and there must be vulnerabilities born at the scene." (He later discovers that he is the only actor to strip for an audition). Sideways are commended for the Church. He won the IFP Independent Spirit Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

She has appeared in movies like Idiocracy, doing voice-over work on movies like Over the Hedge and starring in one of AMC's top TV shows, Broken Trail , with Robert Duvall, in 2006, where he won the Emmy. In 2007, he emerged as Sandman's tragic villain in Sam Raimi Spider-Man 3 starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.

In 2005, he was invited to join the Academy of Art and Image Movement Science. In October 2008, the Church appeared as "Joe Six-Pack" in a video on funnyordie.com, challenging Joe the Plumber by drinking more beers. The Church starred in FEARnet's web site, Zombie Roadkill , with David Dorfman.

She currently appears in the original HBO Divorce series in which she plays Robert.

Personal life

The Church lives on a 2,000 acre (810 acre) farm in Kerrville, Texas. He has two children from his former relationship with Mia Zottoli, but never married him or anyone else even though the 2008 article in LA wrongly claimed he was married to his partner. The Church's biological father, Carl, died in 2008, and his stepfather, George in 2012.

Awards and Nominations

The Church has received many awards and nominations for its role in television and film. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2005 for his role as Jack in Sideways (2004), two Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actor in 2004 for Sideways (2003) and 2007 for miniseries Broken Trail (2006), won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in Serial Mini or Movie in 2007 for Broken Trail, received one of three Screen Actors Guild award nominations in 2005 for Extraordinary Performance by Ensemble in Motion Pictures for Sideways (2004).
