Anjelah Nicole Johnson, also known as Anjelah Johnson-Reyes (born May 14, 1982), is an American actress, comedian, and former NFL cheerleader. Johnson was a cast member on the MADTV series during the 13th season, his character including a Vietnamese nail salon employee named M? Linh/Tammy and a rough fast food employee changed the musical star named Bon Qui Qui (the latter has become popular beyond Johnson's short in MADTV.

Careers

Johnson moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to pursue a career in comedy after a friend suggested that he join a joke writing class. He took an improvisation class, and quickly began to show his own show. His stand-up routine, which consists of the impression of a Vietnamese nail salon employee, receives a lot of attention on YouTube. In 2007, Johnson joined the cast of sketch show MADTV as a major player. Due to the upcoming writers' strike, Johnson is often given only a few lines in the script during his tenure, since the writer should produce more scripts at a faster pace. However, his character, Bon Qui Qui, a fast-food worker who treats his customers roughly, who he owns, is well received, and earns the same great YouTube followers. In 2008, Johnson was nominated for an ALMA Award for Exceptional Female Performance in a Comedy Television Series for his work on MADtv .

Johnson was given a special hour Comedy Central, Anjelah Johnson: That's How We Do It, in 2009. He also appeared in the movies Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and Family Marriage We , and voted for live-action adaptation of Marmaduke . In addition, she performed at the Lopez Tonight talk show hosted by George Lopez.

Johnson became "TC Girl", a spokeswoman for Mexican restaurant Taco Cabana, in 2011. In 2012, Johnson became the national campaign spokesman for "Do not become S.O.V." (Single Passenger Campaign) led by vRide, the country's largest maker of vans, which drives single commuters (S.O.V.s) to rideshare, carpool, or vanpool.

In 2013, Johnson changed his role as Bon Qui Qui's MADtv character to a comedy drama released by Alexander Wang. Johnson's second stand-up comedy titled Homecoming Show was followed and aired on Netflix. It was filmed in San Jose, California.

On October 1, 2015, Johnson's third special stand-up, titled Anjelah Johnson: Not Fancy was released on Netflix. It was filmed in Southern California.

Personal life

Johnson was born and raised in San Jose, California, in a devout Christian family and himself a Christian. He is of Mexican descent and Native American. He is a Pop Warner cheerleader since the age of 8 and is active in football, softball, and tracks; he also practiced hip hop and break dance. He started acting as a senior in high school and was very interested in mimicking different accents. He then studied speech communication at De Anza College. He later became a cheerleader for Oakland Raiders after being inducted in 2002. As a member of the Oakland Raiderettes, he was named Rookie of the Year and performed at Super Bowl XXXVII.

Johnson married Group 1 Crew member Manwell Reyes on June 11, 2011, in Half Moon Bay, California. He said the couple did not want their own children, although they enjoyed spending time with their nephews and nephews.
