Cheer Athletics , located in Plano, TX (near Dallas, TX), Austin, TX, Frisco, TX, Charlotte, NC, Columbus, OH and Pittsburgh, PA is one of the largest All-Star cheerleaders program in the United States, with thousands of athletes competing in 80 teams. They have won 24 World Championships at The Cheerleading Worlds sponsored by USASF, and hundreds of local and national competitions make them, arguably, the most successful programs in All-Star Cheerleading.

In 2007, their owner/coach was ranked # 1 in the country by American Cheerleader Magazine's list of the 25 Most Influential People in All-Star Cheerleading. The Cheer Athlete Team has won over 70 National Titles from the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) and earned 53 medals from USASF Worlds, both leading all other programs. They broke their own record of most medals given to a gym in the Worlds in 2012, bringing home 6 medals: 4 gold and 2 bronze. More recently, the Cheer Athletics have won five medals in Worlds competitions in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively.

History

1994-1995

Cheer Athletics began in May 1994 when co-founders Jody Melton and Angela Rogers started their first practice with 2 athletes at a local park in Plano, TX. Although their start may be small, the goal is enormous - building the program of the country's most prestigious stars. Within a few weeks they have added a new athlete, rented a space in a "real" gym (the Cheerobics Center is now off in Richardson, TX), and starts entering the competition. Things began to increase in the spring of 1995 when the Cheer Athletics won its first national title in the NCA Open Division. Trained and choreographed by Jody, with help from Angela and future CA coaches, the Texas All-Stars (later known as Cheetah) was the first NCA Open Division National Champion. Not only is this their first national title, it is the first win for the Cheer Athletics in any competition.

1995-1996

The 1995-96 season brought many new challenges. CA grew rapidly, and has more than tripled its size since its citizens. Kristi Schimpf and Brandon Brock joined the staff as the main choreographer and tumbling trainer for 3 major CA teams: Panthers, Tigers, Jags. CA now has a total of 58 athletes and tasted its first success in local and regional competitions. In an effort to improve the image and enhance their name recognition, CA requires a recognizable logo across the country. "When people see their logos, I want them to think about the Cheer Athletics and associate us with the best," Jody explained. After hours of work on the computer, the original CA Claw was born.

1996-1997

Brad Habermel and Gianni DeNegri joined CA coaching staff in 1996 and brought the winning experience and required coaching knowledge with five CA teams: Cat, Jagat, Tiger, Panthers, and Wildcats. CA becomes increasingly known and imitated. Traditional CA supporters debuted at the 1997 NCA All-Star Nationals and have become part of the legacy of Cheer Athletics.

1997-1998

Currently, CA is the largest program in the country with 8 teams: Cats, Jags, Tigers, Saber, Cougars, Panthers, Wildcats, and Cheetahs. Despite their growing size and reputation, they still have no place to call themselves. They rent space in various sports spaces in the area: Cheerobics, Southwest Gymnastics, and NCA SuperCenter. The plan was made in 1997 to start looking for a CA gym. In the spring of 1998, Cheer Athletics moved into its own training facility; the former baseball training center just down the road from the NCA's main office. After moving the mound and painting over the lime green wall, Cheer Athletics eventually has a 14,000 square foot home (1,300 m 2 ).

1998-1999

As Cheer Athletics grows, there are now 13 teams in the CA Family: KittyKats, Cats, Jags, Bengals, Bobcats, Tigers, Thundercats, Sabers, Bearcats, Panthers, Pumas, Wildcats, and Cheetahs. Interested in this program, the New York Times Production Company sent a film crew to showcase two Cheer Athletics teams in the documentary, "On the Inside: Cheerleading" that aired the Discovery Channel.

1999-2000

Cheer Athletics continues to grow at a staggering pace. Soon, they have gone beyond their gym and are looking for another. After months of searching, Cheer Athletics moved to its facility in Dallas in April 2000. They now have the country's largest state-of-the-art cheerleading training center. This facility will be large enough to accommodate all 4 gyms that CA has trained before. CA also added 2 more teams to the list of names: KittyKubs and Cubs. Through continuous hard work by athletes and coaches, Cheer Athletics has claimed more than 30 team titles at the end of the 1999-2000 season.

2000-2001

The 2000-2001 season started with an explosion. 350 athletes participated in trials for all-star teams. Two more teams were born into the CA family: Kittens and FierceKatz. Not only are the CA families still growing, but also the skill level of each athlete is improving even faster than before. This is largely due to the strong coaching staff and equipment available for every athlete to use. The 2000-2001 season is the most powerful they have ever done and they bring their total national team championship to 53, which includes victories in many of the toughest divisions in the toughest countries.

2001-2002

This season is the strongest year in the history of their program. With a great experiment and Supercamp (once again in sunny Galveston) they depart and run. They really made the difficult decision to reduce the number of teams this year to better focus on athletes and performances. It really helps us throughout the year in various competitions. They had planned to compete all over the country, with trips to the east coast and west coast. That changed with the tragic events of 11 September. They decided to take a year off from flying and traveling and focus on the competition in Texas. This paid off enormously, as they won more national titles than any other program ever won in a year. They won 7 divisions in the NCA - beating their own record of 4 in one season. They also won the Grand NCA Championships for the third year in a row. With titles in the ACA, the American Championships, Cheer America, and Cheer Power, they brought home 33 outstanding national team titles throughout the season, bringing their overall totals to 86. (Only team championships, this does not reflect a large number of individual titles, action partners, and acrobats)

2002-2003

02-03 is a great year for athletes in Cheer Athletics. As the All-Star Cheerleading world grows and grows, they have to work harder to stay on top. A remarkable season with 30 national championships helps CA retain the crown as the top program in the world. They took their total titles to 116 - although there would be less national competition than the previous year. They set several advantages for this year. Jags won the 6th National NCA Championship in a row - the first ever cheerleading program in history to achieve that target. The Panthers won the NCA Grand Championship with 9.77, giving the CA a desirable Grand Champion trophy. (CA has won every year of the history of years of history.) Bengals also won the NCA for the second year in a row and the Wildcats won for the third time - giving them more Big Coed titles than the current program. Two of their respective open teams are second with an outstanding routine. It is interesting to note that EVERY open coed team has at least one former CA athlete on it. There is also CA Alumson as an open team of 3 All-Girl teams. The CA athletes continue to excel even after their days with us.

2003-2004

This year is the most successful year to date, with a record of 39 National Headlines in a year. Each regular team comes with at least one national championship during this remarkable season. Jags continued their extraordinary streak by winning their 7th National NCA Championship in a row. Bengals also extend their streak to 3 impressive in a row. This year also marks a historic event in the cheerleader. CA was invited to the first USASF World Championship. The competition is open to top players in major national competitions during this season. The athletes compete against the top teams in the country and win the first World Championships. The addition of two powerful trainers has a huge impact on the success of the athletes. Joe O'Toole and Jason McMahan each became directors of their respective programming stars before coming to the Cheer Athletics and each bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience. Strong coaching staff, combined with superb facilities, greatly help their athletes reach their true potential

2004-2005

After the 03-04 season, CA finally surpassed the location of Hillguard. They searched for the moon to find the perfect combination of location and facilities and finally settled on the 1st Street complex. With a 40,000 square foot (3.700 m 2 ) "pure" gym room, plus a large office area and lobby, have found the perfect place. Moving and setting up all the equipment takes hundreds of hours of work, but the results are fantastic - the largest and most sophisticated cheer facility in the world!

2005-2006

The biggest and most successful trial to date has resulted in a fantastic team set for the 05-06 season. New athletes and even some new coaches help CA achieve the best season in history. A payload of the national title ship and 3 World Championships in the USASF World in April put the Cheer Athletics alone on top of the All-Star world. No programs have more National Championships or Worlds in the toughest divisions in the toughest competitions.
