Composition
The album's main single, "Cheer Up", has lyrics written by Sam Lewis and music by Black Eyed Pilseung, the same team that writes hit singles Twice "Like Ooh-Ahh" from their debut mini album. "Cheer Up" is a dance-pop song that combines several genres, including hip hop, tropical houses, and drums and bass; This mix is described as "pop color". The second track on the album is a remake of Park Ji-yoon's 1998 single, "Precious Love", written by Park Jin-young (J. Y. Park). The song was rearranged in home dance style with electronic instrumentation and hip hop rhythm, and featured a new rap written by Chaeyoung.
"Touchdown" is described as "a strong dance with dynamic rhythm, melody, and strong sound effects". "Tuk Tok" is a dance-pop song with soul and trap elements, inspired by a video teaser for Sixteen . "Woohoo" is portrayed as a hip hop song with "groovy beat," and "My Headphones On" is a pop ballad about a girl's breakup. The seventh song, "I'm Gonna Be a Star" (the theme song from Sixteen ) is only available on CD album versions.
Promotions
On April 25, 2016, Twice held a media show at Yes 24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. They performed "Woohoo", "Touchdown", "Precious Love" and "Cheer Up" for the first time in the showcase, which was broadcast live through Naver's V app. The group then promoted the album with a series of live performances aired on various music shows. Their first musical performance appearance was at M! Countdown on April 28, where they performed "Cheer Up" and "Touchdown". The choreography for "Cheer Up" changed little after the shy "shy" line of Sana (pronounced "sha sha sha") became a viral meme. Twice won their first ever musical awards at M! Count down the next week on May 5th, and also won at Music Bank and Inkigayo the same week. They concluded the promotion for the album on May 29 with an appearance on Inkigayo , winning a total of eleven music awards. The trophy on the May 27th edition of Music Bank was originally given to AOA before the show's producers admitted that they miscalculated album points.
Critical reception
Kim Hyang-min from Korean JoongAng Daily gave a diverse review album, describing the song as "high spirited and cheerful" and "generally refreshing and smart" but regretting the lack of diversity of the album genre. Kim notes that the tension in the lyrics of the title song is "well expressed" through his hip-hop and electronic sounds, although the song is too repetitive, and praises "Touchdown" for his "strong voice" and his energetic feelings.
Tamar Herman of Billboard sees "Cheer Up" as an atypical K-pop girl group that "reinforces Twice's unique style" through an unexpected mix of taps and genres. He further noted that the accompanying music video helped to strengthen the independent identity of the members while the songs were exhibited from the individual votes of each member, "musical immortality in the interest of eccentricity".
Fuse journalist Jason Lipshutz, Tina Xu, and Jeff Benjamin discuss the release of K-pop-centric K-Stop K-Stop, depicting "Cheer Up" as a 1990s popback reminiscent of Britney Spears' "..Love once again ". They praised the exciting and exciting single tone, rap breaks, and the "exceptional" production quality of his music video but criticized the processed vocals and controversial lyrics, which seemed to encourage young women to "play games" (ie, pretend not interested) with their romantic partner. They conclude that, while the group has a lot of potential, they need to "polish" it for future releases.

Page Two debuted at number 2 on the Gaon Album Album and number 6 on the Billboard World Albums chart, with 80,686 units sold during April.
