North McKinney High School (usually North , McKinney North , or MNHS ) is a public high school located in 2550 Wilmeth Road in McKinney, Texas, USA. The school is part of McKinney's Independent School District. Mckinney North currently holds the most categorized space in McKinney. McKinney North High School opened for its first new class in 2000. The North has also recently been updated to "recognized" status through TEA.

Academics
McKinney North operates from 7:30 to 2:30 pm. schedule, which includes seven class periods and a thirty minute lunch period. Students may not leave the campus during this time due to MISD's closed campus policy.
Athletics
Despite the short history of the school, it has managed to achieve success in various events. The MNHS Lady Bulldogs won 2006 U.I.L. 4A. The Texas State Championships in football, baseball and softball teams also have a long history in the playoffs that make it to the State semifinals and finals of the region, respectively. In addition, cross-country programs are eligible for U.I.L. State championship twice and won 5 district championships. Also, for Cross Country, Samantha Means won the title of 4A, but also set Texas time records. McKinney's North Tennis team has won 8 district titles and 11 total playoff appearances. The tennis team has been ranked the top 25 every year since school opened. Jordan Hart wins back to the state tennis title in 2012 & amp; 2013. Women's Bulldog also occupies the 2nd position in the Basketball 4A country championship in 2014. They also have a very successful football program to reach the playoffs for 2 years in a row. In 2011, the Bulldogs completed the regular season on 6-4 and went into the playoffs for the first time in 5 years.

Controversial
In 2006 a group of cheerleaders from North McKinney High School, one of whom was the principal daughter of the time, Linda Theret, became notorious for truancy, class irreverence, violations of school dress code and other abusive acts. The scandal became national news when school cheerleader coach, Michaela Ward, resigned in protest in October of that year and began speaking with news and media.
In December 2006, the District Council hired Dallas lawyer Harry Jones to investigate the matter. Then-Principal Theret was placed on paid administration leave and then retired, and the inspector said he would not go back to school or any other campus.
In October 2009, Theret joined the Laredo Independent School District in Laredo in Webb County in southern Texas as new executive director of curriculum and instruction, under the supervision of A. Marcus Nelson, district superintendent. Nelson defended his choice of Theret, who was his partner during the late 1990s. "First of all, he became headmaster of SMA 5-A" and a successful teacher for various urban groups. Theret says that his entire career has been "focused on improving student achievement... I am very interested in teaching science, but art as well." Nelson said that Theret was his first choice among forty-six applicants for the position.
McKinney's cheerleading scandal was portrayed in 2008 in Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal movie, broadcast by Lifetime Television in August 2008; the name of the school changed, so did the names of the students and teachers involved.
