Unlike Others is a 2006 television film aired on Lifetime Television and starring Alia Shawkat, Illeana Douglas and Eric Schweig. This is based on the true story of events that occurred on Brandi Blackbear in 1999-2000. This telefilm was shot in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Plot
Shortly after the Columbine High School massacre, Union Intermediate High School (in Tulsa, Oklahoma) was one of many schools across the country that stepped up security measures to prevent school shootings. Brandi Blackbear writes horror stories similar to Stephen King, dressed in a somewhat Gothlike way, and is not afraid to be himself, or stand up for bullying by popular children. His insurrection led to enmity against him from certain segments of his school culture. False stories about the threat of violence are widespread, and the combination of his writing and his natural curiosity after Columbine caused him to be postponed. When some of his fellow students then saw him check out a book about world religions, including Wicca (as a research for his stories), they immediately branded him as a magician, and eventually accused him of casting a spell that made a sick teacher. Her fears spread to many schools, and she was once again postponed.
Eventually, his parents went to the ACLU, where they were told they had a good case against the school for violating their civil rights. The ACLU is suing a prosperous school for $ 10 million, though Blackbears is not sure they deserve much of what Brandi suffered. However, the ACLU believes that schools will not take the lower claims seriously. When the school offered a settlement, the Blackbears refused. They are not interested in money, even though they need it; what they really want is for their story to be heard in court to inform the public that the school has persecuted Brandi. The judge decided to ignore the charges rather than go to court, and ordered Blackbears to pay $ 6,000 in court fees, which they could not afford. Finally agreed to cancel the fee if Blackbears cancel their appeal. However, on that day at school, Kimberly (the most popular girl at school, and Brandi's main torturer) tries to interview Brandi for the school newspaper but she refuses, and also, everyone at school expresses their admiration for Brandi, causing Kimberly to lose her. popularity.
